Revival 1:20 F2 1953 Ferrari 500

I was keeping an eye open for the links. Back end looks a lot better now!

I have been desperately Googling Ferrari 500 F2 to see if I could find any evidence of a black or other dark colour 1:1, 'customer' car, in order to minimise the kits bodywork fit problems......... but without any luck. It seems it only ever race in Red, Yellow or mid to light blue. Oh well.

Worked on the bonnet and this is how it stands at the moment:





It really needs some more fettling on the front right corner but I'm not sure the rest of the kit deserves even more time spent doing it. So this is it for now. I'll spray some colour and see how I feel then.

I still wasn't happy with the front right corner so I turned my attention to the nose cone and gave it the steam treatment.

It's not perfect but light years better than original methinks.

I agree Al, looks way better than the starting point.

Got some paint laid and glossed. May yet turn out reasonable methinks.



I did want to do it in yellow but the decal sheet only provides roundels in white, whereas the 1:1 yellow cars all used black roundels. So red it is.

Like Johns PU ... another shiney red paint job ... this shade of red either looks spot on or tacky in my opinion ... nice job auld yin !!

Here we go. Decals on and everything is still fitting as I had it. Not the best but the best I can get.





The radiator mesh was moulded in and didn't look good at all. So I added mesh of my own.



I also applied the decals to the instruments and gave them two part clear epoxy lenses.
