Skid's Place Revival
Earlier today, I sent out a mass email to all members explaining the a few of us are trying to revive the site. Hopefully you all got said email.
I'm also pleased to say that we've already had two responses.
Welcome back Old Coyote and Johnag.

Re: Skid's Place Revival
Just picked this up from Ron. (Dadooronron)
Hello there !
I saw the couple of emails that came through recently, but thought that ‘Skids’ had been taken over by someone else years ago.
I was a member for a time, and enjoyed the similar enthusiasm of all the other members, but I had to do a ‘runner’ when I got a dire diagnosis about my eyesight, and was told to avoid straining my eyes, or go blind.
Thus, I gave up scale modelling, selling off my stash, and many of my built models - but as time moved on, my eyes didn’t get much worse. I had, and still have problems with looking at rolling images which gives me vertigo. Because I had been building scale models since 1956, it was in my blood to keep going, so I did but upping my scale to 1/8th on the theory that there would be fewer small parts that would cause eye strain - but then, I was adding wiring, fuel and brake lines and fine detail to my new models.
I have joined other sites, but the ‘rolling images’ scrolling through articles, comments, etc., still caused me problems, and subsequently had to depart from them too. I don’t have an iPhone for the same reasons, but rely on my 12 year old Nokia for emergency calls.
I am now into my 76th. year, retired 10 years ago from my sign business, too old to work on my classic cars and bikes (now all sold), but still potter in 1/8th scale. Sadly, I can’t join in to a revived ‘Skids’ modelling club, but I do wish you and others well with the venture.
Cheers, and thanks, glad to know you are still out there.

Re: Skid's Place Revival
Al, thank you for the email. I have been absent for the community for a while and look forward to sharing my work again with the Skids Place family while learning from the experience of the great builders here.

Re: Skid's Place Revival
I also received the last couple emails. I am surprised that after replacing my phone three times due to broken screens, it still remembered my login.
I was one of those that thought someone else had taken the site over and was heading in a direction that I did not want to be a part of.
Glad to know that you're in charge Al.
