Old 1/1 cars in 1/24th scale
As promised, I've actually finished a couple by this weekend.
My old '72 340 Duster, and '73 VW Beetle Racebug..
The Duster was bought minus the front bumper and the drivers door glass was in a million pieces inside the door
and footwell, but in a time before the Internet, it was nigh on impossible to source parts for US cars in the UK.
A woodworking friend of mine made me a wooden buck to mould a fibreglass copy of the bumper,
and I tried using Perspex (plexiglass) as a temporary solution for the window.
I had great plans for the car, but an unexpectedly large tax bill was due, so the car had to go.
....and this is my Racebug that I sold eighteen months ago...
The model is actually painted the same Kawasaki Green as the car, and the light is playing tricks !

I like both of them Ron ! Do you happen to have a pic of the 1:1 Duster? I have two of them myself. One is my oldest sons and my project. Its a 1971 Sassy Grass Green car with black bench interior and a 360/floor shift 3spd with rallye wheels. the other one is also a 71 and its white with black bench int. and a /6-auto. Its our parts car.

I wish I had a photo Sam, but the Duster episode was back in about 1980,
and I only owned it for a matter of weeks before the dreaded taxman came knocking !

Hi Mr D,

Ha! Buy two of the same car, like having a personal salvage yard out back!
