Ah, nice clean chassis. I see Ford put the gas tank farther from the rear, unlike the Pinto station wagons with exploding-on-impact gas tanks.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
Thanks. Had a minor paint problem today and not sure why it happened? I shook the can very well before spraying but it seemed to deposit white and black specks of crud into the paint as I was spraying and also dried mostly mat? It was a sunny and very dry day so no moisture about at all? I'm not to upset about it though as easily sandable. Just need to find a different can of red now. No idea why it happened? Anyone else had this happen?

"Not I" said the Buck. That's a shame. I hate it when stuff like that happens.

Yup... all part of the fun of modelling! Least its an easy fix. Just for the record the paint is Holts Dupli Colour automotive touch up spray.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
I actually had this happen with Dupli-Color recently and I'm really don't know why. So many factors could have accounted for it but I blame the can! It just can't be me. I hope you get it sorted out quickly.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
I had a problem with a can of Volvo satin white recently,it was in the discount section so it was £3 instead of the usual £7 (Halfords..)
Upon spraying it the paint looked good but soon tiny bubbles appeared looking like sillicone contamination...
But not the case,I shook it to death and tried a different nozzle - it's always handy to keep a few back.No result!...
So I gave up on it,that was a few months back, well I tried it again and it is now good as new!
If I can find a piccy I will show my EXP,you dont see many of them being built..

I'm guessing silcone ( or similar) "fisheyes". PITA, I hate painting cars, if I could subcontract it out
I would!
Good to see this unusual subject moving along.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
Well, I've got the body shot at last!! Needs polishing out when its cured, but I don't want it to shiny as I want it to look like an daily driver!
I also did some shading on the floorpan with a darker grey and added body colour overspray along the edges of the floorpan. Next I added a grimy black wash to the whole floor to make it look nice and used! Just needs dust etc adding now.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
Sorry for the delay on this build! Nothing new there eh LOL. Just been busy. Well got all the engine parts painted up ready for assembly. Then the motor needs wiring and then made to look like its got a couple of hundred thousand miles on (nice and grubby) Found a new much more detailed alternator and oil filter for it too as the kit parts were just blobs of plastic!
Other bits got basic paint colours on. Just need detail painting.

Re: 1982 Ford EXP
Hi Parki,
When I first seen this I thought the front chassis section was separate from the rest of the under body and that you had made it yourself, so I was going to ask what did you use to make it...
May I ask, what do you use to polish the bodies, is it normal car polish or do you use one that's just for models...
Andy...
