Re: 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400
Fresh start. This is a 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400 by Tamiya. The kit is rather basic as it is a re-issue of a motorised kit. There is no engine as such, just the top of it and the suspension is non existent. Headlights are optional and I opted for the closed position. All shortcoming taken into consideration I will try my best at super detaling.
First out of the box; the bodywork. The usual preparations needed with regards to smoothing out the mold lines and dealing with any imperfections. No need for any primer as the plastic is a dark blue, very close to the colour I will use so a smoothed out plastic shell and two to three coats of Tamiya rattle can 'Deep Metallic Blue' and I am satisfied with the finish.
The carburettors are nicely detailed so thats where I can really get to work. I put some cheap masking tape down to cover over the sink holes which I painted flat black.
The base colours put down were flat black and silver. I picked out the details on top of the valve covers in chrome. I had a couple of spare 'Lamborghini decals' which I placed on top of a stone grey background. The carbs were shaded with varying washes of black ink then highlighted with silver to bring out the detail with some gold points.
The throttle linkage was scratch built from various bits of metal I had lying around, staples and wire in this case, and I carefully set them with instant glue. A lick of paint finishd the look. The distributors were drilled out as was the location for the plugs.

The last of the engine images. The throttle linkage finished off after making the damn thing myself from styrene and drilling holes in it. I pushed a dipstick in there somewhere. Can you spot it?

On with the interior now that the engine is finished. I'm going with leather colours and black accents maybe with some anthracite. I've used a mix of brown and orange for the base and shaded with dark brown. I'll be carpeting with black. The dashboard has no decals so a hand brush job is required. I painted the binacles silver just to make it all stand out even though the original is meant to be black. I'll have to make some seat belts and the indicator/wiper stalks.
