1947 MG TC (Race)
This is the 1/32 scale Matchbox version {sometimes labeled for AMT (or both)}. It's a nice kit but the windscreen was clunky so I ditched it and put on racing numbers instead.
The kit engine had no line between the block and oil pan so I added that with styrene strips. I also added some plumbing and wires and made the parts on the firewall. When I learned that the carbs had a tendency to leak petrol onto the hot exhaust manifold below and that some overflow pipes were added to route the petrol safely away below the engine, well, I just had to add them.
The interior needed map pockets so I made them and made a road map too. I guess this is some kind of rally car, eh? You can't really see it but, since I had no black flocking, I tried grinding up a charcoal pencil for flocking. Ha ha ha I do NOT recommend it 'cause it is messy.
Underneath, the wood floor boards have seen better days and need a new coat of black protective paint.
It was a fun kit and went together well.
Heck, I almost forgot: that tail light is a real ruby, courtesy of my wife. Talk about being supportive of the hobby!

Works well! I think it may've been sold once as an "Airfix" brand too. I did one of the large scale TCs (1/16th?) and loved it. It also was offered in 1/24 or 1/25 in the 1980s perhaps. To me, that's one of the classic (and sexy) car designs of all time. You did superior engine detailing for a small scale kit too.

Often wondered about this kit. Now I know it's worth having.
That's a cracking job there Ace in 1:32. What did you use for the HT leads, they have a period 'braided' look to them.

Thanks everybody!
Al, those are made of black sewing thread drawn through the surface of a
white candle. The wax cuts down the fuzziness and hopefully suggests a multi-colored pattern. I'd like to find multi-colored thread. I tried ink on brown thread but it was not great. Thanks for noticing!

Never would have thought of that Ace. Need to remember that for period cars.

Nice build, Ace. Great detailing on the motor for that scale.

Thanks for all the compliments!
Mike, the Rolls is labeled as a Life Like, Old Timers Series but I've read that it was the same as the Pyro brand. Nice kit too, good engine etc. I am gonna post pix of it later but the photos I have now are all very huge so I want to resize them first.

The 'flocking' doesn't look that bad, but I can understand the mess that charcoal can make. Are you planning on re-doing it?

Oh no, I'll keep it. What's left on the floor of the car is firmly attached. Would I do it again? Ha ha ha......maybe. Not with this car, the floor doesn't show up enough to warrant the mess
