Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
Hi all well thanks to the generosity of michu (from another forum I am on) I have this kit to build. I will be doing it oob to try and regain some confidence. It is a massive kit (which again I thank him so very much for) my intention (assuming I don't ruin another kit) is when finished to take it apart and add more detail (given the size of this kit that should be more than possible) provided of course I don't ruin it.
So wish me luck mates.

I saw a couple of these finished, they seem to be very nice.

Hi all well here's the start, I've put a 1/24 car (a big one in real life next to the engine just to give an idea of size)

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
Not many models that size, only one maybe close was the "Big Deuce," if that was in 1/8th I'm not sure. The space it takes up aside, the big problem with big parts can be poor detailing on vital areas as a company cuts corners and leaves off small things like nuts and bolts. Painting is likewise an area that takes care for smooth finish, and it can get tedious. Good luck on another kit I never have seen until now. Looks like a fun job ahead!

those are good kits. 1/8 scale builds are a ton of fun, take your time, and if you are unsure about something ask questions. That's what I do.

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
Oh well I wish I'd done a bit of research before I painted the engine it's a 61 series pontiac v8 and revells call out for engine colour is yellow(which as we all know is one of the weakest pigments) so after struggling to get a solid colour, I've discovered it should be light blue, now I have to strip it and re do it light blue (not too upset as I didn't like the yellow anyway.
Mate these 1/8 kits lend themselves to detailing up, I'm not going to add any extra to this just build it out of the box, if I manage to do that without ruining another kit I will strip it all down then add more detail, this kit is really just about getting my confidence back, as it seems I only seem to ruin kits lately.

Wow, a big kit indeed. I'm familiar with 1/16 cars and 1/6 motorbikes but not a car on this scale. The engine colour looks good. Looking forward to this one

Hi all, enjoying this engine, sticking strictly to oob but there is so much potential for detailing up.

Very nice. Small Block Ford Engine. I think LOL. Looks like Ford Valve Covers. Doesn't this kit come with a 1/8th scale Flathead Engine also? That would nice to build as a display piece by it's self.

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
One aspect of super detailing in this scale is that most extra stuff will have to be scratch built. I'd consider that a big plus.
. Don't 'spect there's much after market stuff out there. And if there was, it'd probably cost a fortune !

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
I guess the kit I have is different. I have two engine options, the Flathead and another called "An early OHV V-8" I will show a couple pictures in a bit.

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
There was (I think) a Minicraft? kit in 1/16th that came in 2 forms, a roadster kit and a pickup one. That did have a nice flathead. When I think of this one being twice the size of the 1/16th, WOW!

Re: Revell 1/8 ford 32 rod
Hi all tonight's bit, according to the instructions the engine is finished and there are no missing gaps in the spures, and the list of parts dosent list it but I'm sure there should be a fan blade ? I no nothing about these big American engines but every other car engine I've seen has one, also I've chosen the chrome exhausts, I wonder do they go blue like bike exhausts.
