Revell 32 Ford 3 Window
Since Shay finished his I figured I'd drag mine out again.
I filled in the trunk seams as I had knackered the trunk/boot when I cut it open. I had originally started this kit 19 years ago. I pulled out to use for a group build on another site and kept having problems (self inflicted).
The engine will be the 392 HEMI from the Revell 32 5 Window with the blower from the Revell '41 Willy's street machine.

With all the 32's being built recently, it's kinda like a members build.

Third time lucky Dan??
It is a nice kit, I built it a few years back.

I'm just having no luck with this thing. The bottom trunk seam keeps appearing no matter how much filler or sanding.Skid wrote:

All is not lost, I pulled out a body from a second kit and it was poorly molded below the back window. I should have taken pictures before I started sanding of how knackered it was.

Re: Revell 32 Ford 3 Window
This thing is about to morph into a 5 Window Coupe. I spent a good hour last night sanding down the jacked up molding on the trunk and another hour today sanding the rest of the seam lines.
I glued in the filler pieces as I'm building it fenderless. I went to test fit the body to the chassis and it was wider than the frame in the trunk area. I figured along the 18 year history that I must have done something I don't recall. I took out a Revell 32 Vicky that I had started (see a pattern here LOL) and it fit the original frame fine.
I then dug out my calipers and the second 3 window body is 1/4" wider between the filler pieces. The weird thing i there is not anything visually noticeable by looking at the bodies side by side.
I'm going to see about rescribing the trunk panel lines on the body above. If all goes well I'll use it.

Nice start! And best of luck with the mods you described, work like that is often touchy but I'm sure you'll 'git 'er done' without too much difficulty

It kills me to say it, but it does look good Dan.

The two sides & bottom line were not to bad as there was a good distinct line to follow and I have a couple of panel scribing tools.
I cheated a little on the top one. I did it free hand first, but mucked it up so I filled it back in. When I scribed it again, I taped a small steel ruler to the body using double sided tape and used the ruler as a guide.

Re: Revell 32 Ford 3 Window
Base coat and final color are on the body. Unfortunately it will not be blown. There was too much difference in the width of the blower from the Revell 41 Willys kit. I thought using the heads from the Willys would work but still no go.
So I have gone with the next best thing. A tunnel ram with twin Holley Dominator's.

Re: Revell 32 Ford 3 Window
When I started this kit 18 years ago I was going to paint it Ford Ranger Splash yellow. The Tamyia is darn close to that color. I'm chuffed with the color.

You're a bit like a bus Dan, you wait for ages, then two arrive at the same time.
