Possibilities for detailing engine compartment's molded-in detail look quite good.  Engine does rock, it should make her roll!

Looks good!  Dash decals help a lot.  Are those door speakers?  If there's any texture maybe some thinned paint wash to bring depth to the holes?

Hi all well after a lot of retouching and smoothing I've got the dash on the Shelby satisfactory, its not great but it will have to do, I've made some break pipes from the sevo and added the vacuum pipe (not sure where it fits on this car but its usually on the inlet manifold somewhere)

Hi all, well whilst doing some weathering on the engine bay I started to think all this work on the engine and engine bay and you wont see any of it when its finished so, I thought, what about an engine hoist and doing it with the engine being removed, now my question is would it be possible to remove the engine and gearbox complete or would I have to separate them (which would then mean making a flywheel and bell housing and the splined shaft for the gearbox, also what else would be removed to get the engine out, I assume the injection system?

I think on this the front end would be unbolted and detached and the lump just pulled out forwards and out with everything attached .... they did with a mustang on a car resto program ...

Hi all, here is the last update for a long time on this one
Revell 1/12 Ford Shellby GT 500 - Page 2 3yeyRHY
Revell 1/12 Ford Shellby GT 500 - Page 2 8tPRVgU
Revell 1/12 Ford Shellby GT 500 - Page 2 VgvnbTQ
really not happy with this so I think I'm going to box it up and shelve it for a while, before I throw it at the wall, cant put my finger on whats turning me off it, I think its just the fact that nothing on it is really up to a standard I'm happy with, the paint job is not shiney enough the engine is really not one of my better weathering efforts (certainly not up to the bike standards) the door shuts lets face it are laughable and I've found out the doors open inside the wings not as I have them, it just all adds up to a piece of rubbish (yes it can all be rectified (fairly easily)) but the shine has gone off it for me and if I force myself to finish it I can see it taking a flying lesson.

Sometimes models are a struggle and "good enough" is still worth taking pride in.  Finish it when you can.  In a big scale it'll look good.

I do understand your problem sometimes paint removal is a real bear. I have thrown bodies away and bought another kit to finish a build. LOL. stay the course, it's a super nice build.

Dunno what other products may be there locally.  Folks have used oven cleaner as well as brake fluid and other "cleaners."  I'd try a different line of cleaner to get more paint off.  As long as the surfaces are flat enough and any panel lines or things like vent louvers are clean, one can try a different paint.  Fine sandpaper can clean up smooth places well, of course.

I love sites like this because there's so much to learn, and that learning happens by scrolling through the posts of other peoples' threads, and being able to ask questions. The most knowledgeable have made the most mistakes.....

If we never look at or comment on other threads we might miss out on some individualized tutoring. The give and take of a forums like Skid's Place are what help us all become better and learn. If we never comment on other peoples work we might come off as being a little self-centered.

hi all this is fighting me all the way, I bought some barrier coat and sprayed it with that then gave it a coat of gloss white and its reacted with the barrier coat, you cant really see from the pics but there are little wrinkles in the paint so Im hoping sanding back where the wrinkles are down to bare plastic and re spraying will solve it.

Looks like Mr Muscle took more than the paint off! I often shelve 'problem builds'
