Re: German Staff Car G4 1/35 (revell)
Thanks Guys
Got the body on the chassis today, no major trials or issues.
Added some extra cabling from the main junction box and from out the back of the clocks that will be routed around the engine.
I saw on a few pictures of this vehicle that the mudguards had a sort of "hammered" look to them, i've tried to replicate this by spraying them in a cheap matt black paint that i noticed dried with a pimply texture. when dry i just sprayed them with cheap hairspray to give them a stain sheen.... seems to work.
The detail in this kit (for a 1/35) is very good and there's ample room to scratch extras even further

Thumbs up And Drooling .... I must be doing something right.
Thanks guys.
small update for today, spent the afternoon planting Cherry trees ... and boy do i ache.
Got the bonnet finished off.
Also the doors are now finished and ready to attach when the rest is done (or i'll knock them off knowing me)
I'm attaching the side windows after the doors are on and set so i can get them level.

Re: German Staff Car G4 1/35 (revell)
Thanks Mike.
The rear folded canopy was a bit flat and boring, i remembered seeing a "textured" canopy, or maybe it was covered in a net ... the piccie was a WW2 era fuzzy greyscale so could have even been a fault with the lighting lol.
Anyway i liked the look of it and so i've reproduced it to my own liking in this model.
the canopy, painted and then some muslin PVA'd on.
Painted and low/highlighted, brackets fitted
in situ on the car.
finished the wiring, all the wires an cables go in the general direction (ish) that i worked out from zooming in and out of a restoration image, there's a chance that the wiring has been adjusted for todays standards in the restore so isn't WW2 era perfect ........... but i dont care ..... it looks ok ... just got to dull them off a bit with a black/grey drybrush.

That is a lot of wiring sticking out of the firewall. That's not a bad thing, just more than you normally see. I like it. Really been enjoying this build. Nice work.

Buck, It seems there are an awful lot of wires going in the direction i've got them .... saying this there could be a few that go "under" the wall and along the body/chassis but i can't really see which ones in the image i've got...
*edit*
Just got a period dash image and there's 8 dials/instruments so i'm about right .... just got to paint a couple solid black to simulate cables for the speedo / tacho.

You are adding lots of extra detail on this one Colin and I like the netting over the pram hood.

Ta Muchly Al
Got the dials, steering wheel, knobs & levers, sunvisors and rear viewing device installed .
Added the front lighting assembly, this is in 11 bits, also got the drab handles and spots on the window pillars that you can just see in the picture.
The most important bit stuck on ... just to show it's a Merc !!!!
And the close up image shows there's some cleaning up and touching up to be done in the dash area.....!!!!! ... thats tonights job then!

Exactly! The kit appears to be one of the best. However, your extra detailing puts it far ahead of OOB! Congrats for all the hours put in, fotos and descriptions.
