WWII German FAMO 1/35 scale
Seeing as Skid Solo is building a "braile scale" FAMO I thought I would get out a 1/35 scale just to see the difference between the two.
I picked up the Trumpeter model and thought I would be able to get caught up too Al, but as it turns out the kit has 898 parts. Looks like I'll be a while on this one. I really didn't mean to start a complicated kit like this as I am just now feeling like modeling following the year from hell with my health and accidents. But I'm looking forward to this.
Here goes:
I'm impressed with the kit. This is the first Trumpeter kit I have built and it certainly ranks as one of the better kits I have seen. The box contains a 28 page booklet of instructions and a color paint guide covering four different versions of the FAMO.
There are seven spru that are almost completely clear of flash. There is also a box containing photo etch and other small parts. That's about it for now. I will start building today and will post updates as appropriate.
BTW, it's good to be back.

Re: WWII German FAMO 1/35 scale
The chassis of the FAMO is getting close to completion.
I would guess at approximately 60 to 70 pieces used so far. Many of them are extremely tiny. In a way I think some of this is a waste as the pieces will not be seen after the model is closed up. I'm going to put the FAMO aside for a few days now to work on the Panzer IV i am building for the dual build with Al and others.

That looks like a very nicely detailed engine and chassis John. Going to have to look for one of these myself methinks.

Re: WWII German FAMO 1/35 scale
Got two drawbacks Al. The instructions leave a bit to be desired in places. At times they can be confusing as to the sequence of the assembly partssteps. Most of the time though things are pretty clear. My other problem is the TINY parts. So far I have lost three to the carpet monster. Unfortunately two of them will be viSable and had to be remade so I wouldn't have holes. Overall though it's a nice kit and I think I'll be happy with the finished product.
