German Staff Car G4 1/35 (revell)
Made a start on this, an Xmas present from the youngest lad.
Got the basis of the engine together, it's a straight 8 merc, found a restoration site for a G4 on the net so will be using that as reference to wire it up etc.
Wheels together, just trying a baby blue on one to see what it looks like, it's a bit bright and i don't want to weather this too heavily so think i'll be taking Elaine's opinion on board and doing it cream with black running boards/mudguards etc.

Always thought these would make a great hot rod. Maybe Al needs to add one to his Mile End Garage dio.

Hope you've brought enough chicken to go around Al
Sam, good idea, it'd look great on his diorama ... i think i'll do this one stock though
from how the first bits went together it seems a nice kit, no flash so far and all the lug/pins are in the right place

Has this been built at this site or was it elsewhere? Lots of parts and great undercarriage detail. To keep the paint simple, there's always Afrika theatre light tan-yellow. No rust, not much mud, just light wear at edges to show bare metal.

You're right Harron, there's lots of detail in it.... i'm adding even more as i found a wiring and pipework overhead shot to reference.
Engine plugs wired in and a bit of pipework added. (o.22 wire for the leads .. equates to 7.7mm)
had to get it into the chassis (which itself is in 31 parts) so i can run the extra pipes and wires along it.

Good work Colin although if you don't mind me saying so, I think plug leads 1-4 loo a little on the long side.

The insulation off of single strand telephone wire Ash... the inner solid core from the wire is what i'm using for the steel pipework.
Al, yeah the four wires i threaded through the dizzy assembly shifted a little that way as i was fitting them to the plug holes and i superglued it without noticing.

Looks good to me so far. Rear wheels, transaxles and suspension are of many pieces too. Wish you well and, thanx!

Great work on the engine, Colin. In fact, very great work considering it's 1/35 scale.
