Re: BIG General
Just don't ever use it on resin bodies. They will warp!

Re: BIG General
That's the main reason I always paint the bodies last. The way I model usually requires a heap 'o handling

Re: BIG General
Looking good, Cole. I've used the Model Master Metallizers a lot and they can be tricky. When brushing them on, I've found a liberal amount of paint on the brush is necessary and don't take a second swipe over the same area. Just use single swipes, you can touch lighter areas up after it dries. Also the Metallizers do come in 'buffing' and 'non-buffing' versions. If you use the buffing, be sure to seal it before handling - it's meant to come off with contact. They do dry slowly and feel mucky in high humidity.

Re: BIG General
Got in a little work among all of the influx of relatives.
Plug wires and blower belt.
Yes, if any sharp eyes have noticed, those are tacky J C Whitney type valve cover hold downs on the tops. The bottom ones had to be cut off to allow the engine to drop between the rails.
The engine is about ready for permanent placement in the frame !

I continue to be in awe of your scratch building abilities. Great job on the engine.

Engine looks fantastic, installed. Great work, Cole.
The holddowns may be tacky, but I bet the price was right. I grew up buying car parts from JC Whitney or their showroom (Warshawsky's) on the south side of Chicago.

Re: BIG General
Not much to report. I'm 'fighting the MIncraft die makers on rear chassis stuff. Not blow my own horn, but my homemade crap went together easier.
Family all back up North and took Shazz with them. She'll stay until sometime in August
So, I'll be getting back into the shop more.

Re: BIG General
I guess Mincraft got the Gen Lee as low as it was supposed to go. My lowering mods were set too low. I had to shave the bottom of the bellhousing cover even after reverting to the original holes that the old dummy. fortunately, hadn't destroyed. (or else I had made the bellhousing too big)
Surfing on another site I came across another Gen Lee being built. The builder had noted that the front wheel opening was un prototypically radius ed. I may flatten the tops of mine also, even tho my reputation is not to be overly concerned with 'prototypical'

Re: BIG General
Clay form here the wheel wells look great. The stance is right on. I don't think I would doink with it.

Re: BIG General
If I think changing the arch would interfere with the front wheels in any way, they stay like they are !!!!
I was YEA close to gluing the dam whole front suspension/steering SOLID !!!
This afternoon I went back to having fun ! Installing the injector lines!

Re: BIG General
Mincraft's instructions had the battery mount in front of the RF wheel on a bar that hat no accommodations for it. The Gen Lee must have been rigged from the tooling from something else.....maybe they had a NASCAR version in earlier life.
Anyway, I relocated it to behind the pass, seat. and I routed the positive cable real close to where the roll bar will be, just to make things exiting.

Re: BIG General
Coming along well, so far! I believe you're right. Original engine had that odd NASCAR styled single carb manifold. It may have been a Petty large scale car (?). If it had dual front shocks you can bet on it.
