Hi Bruce,
You certainly did a great job on this Sir...
May I ask a question about these Gasser vehicles please, I have seen them on TV and various model versions, why do the have the front sitting so high...
Andy...

Re: '40 Ford Pick Up Gasser
Andy, the idea was to aid weight transfer. It is easier to throw the weight onto the rear slicks with the nose in the air. NHRA finally added a rule about crankshaft centerline height. Now it there are crankshaft centerline heights for different classes. They whole thing got out of hand the noses were so high in the air you couldn't see to drive it down the strip. Hope this helps.

Re: '40 Ford Pick Up Gasser
Thanks for all the kind compliments guys. The front sits so high on this 40, that the lid on the display case can't close. I will have to put it in a taller case. Here's a link to the rules as they progressed and some links to some awesome Gassers. Hope this helps.

Bruce.... fantastic looking model, unusual vehicle, not familiar with the concept, certainly looks the part though.
Bruce and Buck... Thanks for the info on this type of vehicle and an insight into the history, interesting stuff.

No matter what else you do to it, the color and finish just knock me out every time I look at it.

Re: '40 Ford Pick Up Gasser
Luv the Ford pickup! It's a nice change from the usual Willys ones. True too about rules, always had rules, even back to early days, things like how far engines could be set back. Without rules folks will try anything, tossing safety to the wind (and at 100 mph+ there was a lotta wind!). Thanx for a swell job, I am smilin'!
