Lotus 56 (Indy Turbine Wedge)
I bought this one off eBay a couple of years back:.....
..... as a repop of this kit:....
As soon as I opened the box, I knew it was a dog of a kit but undaunted I ordered correct decals for it from

Well, let me tell you, unless you are REALLY desperate to have this one in your collection, save your money and buy something else. It really is a DOG.
The turbine is very basic as is everything else about the kit. To boot, none of the front suspension lines up properly and the coil springs are an absolute joke. So much so I didn't fit them. I even had to leave off the steering linkage.
I also had to glue the body havles together just to get a half decent fit. The nose cone is meant to be removeable to show some basic (very) detail but no way was it even a half decent fit, so had to be glued and filled.
I even had to drill out the locating holes much larger in the uprights, just to get the wheels to sit reasonably straight.
The best feature of the kit bare the wheels and tyres. Both nicely done. However, AMT supply Goodyear tyres whereas the real deal ran on Firestones!! Go figure!!
One to forget methinks!!! LOL.

Looks good Al.
I won one of these at a model show a few years back. You have talked me out of building it. I think the little tractor is kinda cool.

LOL.... rumour has it the tractor is the best part of the kit. Mine will be used in my garage dio should I ever finish (or re-start) it!!

I think you did a very good job on it, I like how it came out. Do yo have any pics during the building?

In '60s-'70s MPC kits were a step below the AMTs, but your work looks great! Re: Goodyear/Firestone, I remember a foto that ran in a car mag back then. It had Graham Hill at Indy with his drivers suit on and GOODYEAR patch. Humorous caption said "It's not nice to wear Goodyear whilst shod in Firestone."

I know that there is a lot of flash on this kit, but I was quite pleased with how mine turned out and yours looks great as well. It was fun to research, and dont worry about adding a bunch of detail, just keep it simple like you did and its a nice addition to the display case.

Kind of an unimpressive looking Indy car, but your model looks great.
If that kit doesn't cost an arm and a leg, it would almost be worth it to get that neat little tractor !
