Mazda Savanna GT
in between working on the super beetle and a few others i put this little gem together . its a fujimi kit ,curbside with some underside detail . got this one as LOW as i could manage however i felt the kit wheels were too wide so i went with aoshima 14 inch techno trv wheels with stretch mounted tires. color along with the license plate was picked out by my better half tamiya ts 25 pink with tamiya ts 13 clear. the overfenders were a real pill to install as theres no clear cut mounting points and a bit of dremel action was required before installation of said overfenders .interior is just tamiya white primer white black accents . combination of bmf and molotow chrome pen on the trim bits. thanks for all you guys feedback and inspiration . its like a brotherhood around here and i enjoy it very much thanks for looking

Nice Brother Nismo. Nice kit well built. I've never used clear coat over a gloss paint before. Would you recommend that? I always thought the gloss paint is shiny enough as it is. To me it's just another step where things can go wrong.

Re: Mazda Savanna GT
its almost a double edged sword a lot of times i like to spray 2 or 3 color coats then wet sand it with 3600 or 4000 grit to get out any orange peel then mist on the clear 2 or 3 coats and let it gas for a few days then polish the clear with 4000 all the way to 12000 grit then a cleaner wax and caranuba . i get impatient oftentimes and apply the clear too heavily obscuring some of the molded in details though. the other thing i fight is getting trash in the clear as i dont have a proper paint booth. but on the flip side i think it adds more depth to the finish just gets tedious trying to water sand without burning through on corners and such. sorry to ramble on but thats my two cents on it

Very cool look. A rarely seen model.
It answers the question 'How low can you go?'

While not a fan of the 1;1 ( my suburb was infested with these noisy POS in the 80s) I like your work!

Hi,
Great build, congratulations!
By the way, I also clear coat over gloss paint. Most of the times it's a polishing marathon but I guess it pays. Yours did it indeed ;)
Cheers,
Nuno.

Beautiful and unique. A clean and sleek build with a personality all its own (and I love that the colour is evocative of strawberry ice cream).
