Which configuration should I use?
Re: Mile End Garage.
He'll get there Gary. I notice that he says this is the first time he has used bass wood. Let's call him an apprentice, okay!

LOL.... had to Google that. Never heard that one before!!

That was my thought too Mike. Need to make a 100mm concrete base methinks.

Thank you John.

Re: Mile End Garage.
I'll pick #3, simply for the fact that if the Model T is just sitting covered in a tarp, it probably wouldn't be front and center.
Cheers,

Re: Mile End Garage.
I just ordered these two:
The Kadet K38 Saloon will no longer be used as I felt that the Gaz is much more 'British Like'. It very much reminds me of
the 1934 era British Model Y Fordoor Saloon:
This will be parked in the garage and since Dennis has plans to expand his inherited garage, he is now employing the guy with the spanner in his hand to help out. He will be working on the car.
The car kit appears to be very nice:

Re: Mile End Garage.
The lathe is finished and ready for painting and weathering.
The white pieces are there to represent the threaded tracks for the table. They are not supplied with the kit but are shown in the instructions with the suggestion of wrapping fine wire round them to represent the treads.
I did try but as the styrene is only .5mm in dia, for the sake of my sanity, I abandoned it after several attempts!!! LOL
Floor mounted pillar drill, grinder and vice. The illustration for the vice, shows a piece of wire being used for the lever/handle but was not supplied, nor was there a hole for it. So I had to drill a .4mm hole in the tiny bit of resin at the end, then make the handle from styrene:

Nice stuff, Al. That's a great small scale car, too. Love the details.

Re: Mile End Garage.
Excellent work on adding the details. At that scale it's definitely a cause of eye strain and shaking hands, very nicely done!
One suggestion I offer for etching threads onto the tracks is to find a tiny nut of the correct size (I get mine from junked electronics like wrist watches and such) and then 'tap and die' the styrene. You don't need to make actual grooves, if you only 'scribe' the surface of the styrene rod the lines will take a detailing wash which looks a lot like threads. Don't know if this will be of any use to you, just a thought.

Re: Mile End Garage.
Thanks guys.
That's a good tip Kats thanks. I may just try that provided I can find such a tiny nut.

Re: Mile End Garage.
I got the radio painted up tonight. The top right corner got damaged but I figure that wouldn't be unusual in a provincial garage, so I'm just going to leave it.
All this electrical equipment needs power, so I made up some period 5amp sockets and power leads. These will mount on the wall and eventually be connected to the various devices.

Re: Mile End Garage.
Superb detailing Al, I agree about the damage on the radio (adds drama and realism), and the power sockets are a fantastic touch. I've said it before and Ill say it again, this is going to be brilliant.

well....from the Wiki.....
''Work began in 1933/34 on a replacement for the GAZ-A, again using a (newer) Ford model as the basis. The model in question was the Ford Model B, which was becoming available with a wide range of different bodies in North America.
Specifically, the first prototype for the GAZ M-1 was based on the 1934 Ford Model B 40A four-door sedan. The prototype was powered by a four-cylinder engine, although it appears already to have been intended that production cars, like the Ford on which they were based, would use V8 units. Documentation was transferred by Ford in accordance with the terms of the technology sharing agreement and the first prototype was unveiled in February 1935. A major innovation for the manufacturer was the all-steel body, although at this stage the roof was still reinforced using timber side rails and was coated with synthetic “leatherette” fabric.''
i like how the lathe, pillar drill, etc have come out, they are nicely detailed
