Re: 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. (Bootlegger)
Thanks all.
The engine is not the original and is out of a Revell 31 Sedan Hot Rod, consequently it needed a bit of jiggery pokery, or as Clay would put it, 'imagineering' to get it to fit!!
The wheels in this kit are a real joy to work with. Very little flash to start with. They are the normal two piece front and rear set up. meant to glue together whilst sandwiching the tyre between.
However, by heating the tyres in freshly boiled water, I was able to hold both inner and outer together and literaly 'snap' them in place without the need for glue!!
Body on for mockup purposes.
The fabric top is medical tape sprayed matt black, layed on then cut ala BMF.

Hi Mr Skid Sir,
I agree with Mr G, this is looking sweet, the colour scheme really suits it and nice touch with the tape...

What a wally I am!!!!
I decided not to use the kit glasswork as it looked too thick, so I cut new glass from overhead projection sheet instead.
While I was gluing one side in, I must have picked up some CA on my left forefinger, resulting in a ruined paint job!!!!
However, all is not lost as I have a fix in mind that, if I can pull it off, will blend in with the build.

Yeah, I wouldn't sweat that, Skid.
I would think a bootlegger sleeper wouldn't look totally pristine.

The car is finished apart from muckying it up some and dull coating the tarp.
The guy's legs were originaly bent at about 30 degrees and he's quite short at a tad over a scale 5'. So we'll just have to assume he's the bootlegger's son, pressed into helping. LOL
His left leg is also a bit short so I'll probably place something under it. Just not quite sure what yet!!!!!

Re: 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. (Bootlegger)
Where have I been to miss this - it's great.
My biggest gripe about restored cars (Real ones) is the glossy lacquered shine, which they never had back in the day.
I think this colour looks spot on - considering it might be a stolen vehicle repainted in the barn.
Are we having another back story Al ?
