I started a new one tonight.

1930 Ford Model A Coupe 006copy

This car was one of the first California Highway Patrol four-wheel vehicles. At the time of the formation of the Patrol in 1929 virtually all of the Officers rode motorcycles. The four-wheel vehicles were assigned to supervisors. As I said, the Model A was one of the first.

When complete I intend for the model to looks substancially similar to this.

The 1/1 vehicle was restored by Sgt. Brian Duncan. He and his wife are shown standing next to the car. Sgt. Duncan is wearing a California Highway Patrol uniform of 1930s vintage.

More to follow. I hope you guys like this one.

The first thing I discovered about this kit is that the body is in two parts. The fit of the top to the bottom leaves something to be desired. Also the engraving of the soft top insert, in so many words, sucked.

I sanded off the engraving on the roof and replaced it with styrene half round.

It's going to take some more work before it is done.

As I said, the fit of the top to the bottom of the body is not the best. Even after fitting there is an open seam all the way around the body. It is will require quite a bit of filling and sanding.

I have started the process and I think things are going to work out pretty well.

I obviously still needs more work, but it is coming along. Hopefully I will get some more done this evening. In the meantime, SWMBO has a bunch of chores for me today.

Made some progress with the body last night and got a primer coat on to check it.

Overall I think it is looking pretty good, but the joint around the bottom of the cab still needs a bit more work. This is the most filling and sanding I have ever had to do on a STOCK build. I decided to keep the trunk closed and covered the bottom gap with half round. I'm open to suggestions on what to do with the gap at the top of the trunk.
