ANDY X has a good tutorial on Brush Painting Model Cars (small parts) on YOU TUBE. It's long with tips and recommendations on paint, thinning and paint brush care. Even if you pick up only one tip, it is helpful.

Couldn't copy link to make it work for me, so, just You Tube and Brush Painting Model Cars, or for his other vids, just Andy X. He has other material on the subject too.
