Monogram P-61 BLACK WIDOW 1/48
Ahoy
Here is a Kosher build plastic this time, Here is a old kit I had and built many years ago I bought this kit in 1977 at K MART At one time all KMART stores ad a huge stash of tock piled kits of the ,monogram TBD Devestrater and the P-61 black widow also comet kits I should have seen the light when these kits someday will not be on the hobby shelves anymore. If I had the fore sight I should have stocked up all of thecomet kits and the monogram kits I remember how much the P61 cost it was $1.49.00 and the comet kits were 50 cents.............................most black widow builds are painted and displayed in the traditional all black paint schedule. mine is different all in olive drab over Nuetral Gray with invasion stripes. The black widow kit was a very enjoyable build as I last remembered.......... When it comes to kits when they first were released I am a pretty good historian on the dates and thye cost of these things when they first appeared on the hobby shelves.............The TBD and P61 were the first in the quarter inch line that featured the new tooling and got away with the old gimmick kits they produced in the 1950s....... Here is my Black Widow.

That brings back memories- it was the first aircraft kit I built as an adult, back in the mid 80s.
Build lots as a kid, all 1/72. Most of which met a fiery or explosive end.
There's only a handful of survivors, one of which is this restoration.

Nice work. I enjoy seeing the planes and learning a little from reading about them.
