1957 Chevy Black Widow.
Well, she's finished.
I have to say this is the best US Revell kit I've ever built. Went together well apart from a couple of minor issues.
The front windscreen needed a couple of thin strips of styrene cglued to the inner roof, in order to glue it in via. the moulded in windscreen sun visors.
The rear side windows have a recess which was short of contacting the inner bodywork so had to be held in with double sided tape.
Some mods were needed at the front to get rid of a 'nose up' stance.
The engine is wired but it's difficult to see,

Al: You did a great job. Like Buck said, it looks like the box art.

Thumbs up from me, Al. I concour with your thoughts on the kit. A vast improvement on the old Revell kit or the old Monogram one.
And isn't it good to see some of the less glamorous body styles like 2 door 'poverty pack'
sedans, rather than a fully optioned Belair convertible.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: 1957 Chevy Black Widow.
My only quibble is with the "283 h.p." decal. It DID have a 283 cu. inch engine. However, the two 57s I quickly googled (one by Smokey Yunick) have the more sensible 220 h.p. on the cars. Dunno what the actual "stock" car sold to buyers claimed. One site had a fotocopy of the booklet of optional racer parts from G.M. for it, from carb to valves, etc.
I agree it looks great, fresh off the trailer, ready for battle scars.

The factory claimed 283 HP with the optional fuel injection. That's SAE gross HP,so you can take that with a grain (or more of salt)
Only HP claims I believe are DIN or SAE net.
And here's a link to the factory guide to a '57 Chevrolet race car. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Chevrolet/1957_Chevrolet/1957_Chevrolet_Stock_Car_Guide/dirindex.html

Pamphlet similar to one I saw on the Web. Yes, I remember the 283 h.p. claim (I think) "one h.p. per cu. inch," but NASCAR fotos I saw on the Web listed 220 h.p. on 2 different racers. I have books somewhere with many old fotos I'll check on as well.
