1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench
With several models yet to finish (2 Jeeps and 2 Linberg Model T rods), it seemed pointless to start other threads for those I have been dabbling in.....so, to the bench ! .....
Several ‘32 Ford’s are hovering. One planned as a traditional Black Roadster, with flathead engine, slightly channeled with the trunk/boot lid converted to a rumble seat, scratchbuilt chassis, electric fan and other details.
A planned Altered turtledeck ‘T’ rail is just in it’s infancy, while the resin bodied chopped 5 window, once repaired, is going full fendered - on another scratchbuilt frame.
....and yet another roadster body, on the third scratched ‘32 chassis/frame, but not sure what direction this is going to be built yet.
Plenty of work ahead, just a pity the weather isn’t warmer so I can get some paint many of the parts.

Thanks Sam, I’m fighting a lot of medical demons at the moment and getting immersed into builds takes my mind off things. Besides, in a couple of weeks time I chalk up another birthday .....and that clock is ticking !
I do miss not being able to get into the garage and tinker with real cars and bikes, so I’m glad I have a substitute.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
Just when I thought I had enough 1/8th scale Hot Rod kits to see my days out, my son brings me another one as an early birthday present.
......and although a few bits have come adrift, it’s in great condition, and nicely painted, and quite well put together.
My son found the model advertised in a local charity shop, sadly donated by the wife of the deceased chap who built it.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
.....and the Black rod my son gave me is now polished and touched up. The red shocks, steering wheel and shifter knob are now black. The six Stromberg carbs that had individual gold filters are now changed to a custom scoop in gloss black - and I’ve lowered and tilted the screen for a lower profile. The tyres have been filled with foam sponge so they fit the original rims better, which have had a dark wash to accentuate the wheel centres. This model didn’t need much to bring it up to date, and reflects the quality of work that the original deceased owner put into it. The only job left to do is to alter the convertible roof to something a little more sportier - and to make another case to keep it in.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
I’m sorry I haven’t been adding to my threads lately but I’m having issues with my laptop and ipad not talking to each other again, - I had similar problems a few months ago. A recent update on my laptop appears to be the source - but can I hell get a grip on it ?
Needless to say I have been soldiering on with my builds, but just chatting about it doesn’t reveal what latest picture. Both T’s have paint, and the channeled ‘32 roadster is almost complete.
Hopefully, I will find a resolution soon and join the party.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
Finally, my laptop/iPad syncing problems are solved
A week ago, last Saturday dawned bright, but cold, but I still chanced my hand in painting a few bits and pieces in the garage. The latest ‘32 build got it’s chassis and interior painted in satin black, with a gloss coat to the body. Things were going well so I painted the interior in red then a satin lacquer, wheels went gloss red. Now I could get on with the assembly, and It’s down to adding the details. As you may notice this car is slightly channelled over the scratchbuilt frame, and the grille is lowered rather than being shortened. I’m also onto making a new lower ragtop roof, which still needs a bit more cutting and shutting to get it to fit and help finish off this traditional hot rod.

Nice one Ron. I like the red accents on the filters etc and I love the white firewall matching the ragtop. Nice change from silver or body colour.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
Thanks Al - I’ve always wanted to build a traditional hot rod in these colours, with a flathead engine - and thanks to the bits and bobs I got from Sam, it’s something I can tick off my bucket list.

Looks like I need to send you another box. An F.E.D. never would have thought about building one of those.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
Not yet Sam
....many times since I started building with the last parcel’s contents I have had those moments of ‘panic’ over the mass of work ahead.....and will I ever finish them. It’s already a race to complete what I have before I kick the bucket.
There are still three, or maybe four more I could construct using the parts you sent - and I need to make another eight more display cases to put them in.......so I think I’m okay for the rest of the year.
The Altered’T’ is my ‘racer’ side coming through, and I’m pondering cutting out the body sides to tuck the slicks slightly inside the body. Even I don’t know what’s coming next !

That’s the problem building 1/8th - they fill the room so quickly.
I think it would be easier to move to a larger house.

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
Surprising what a couple of days at the bench can achieve, once I’ve juggled where to move stuff. Today’s photos shows more builds started.
The resin body coupe has a new scratched chassis, there is a full fendered ‘32 coming together to be a barn find, on a new frame, and a ‘shorty’ bucket T made from a Four door touring body.
The more panoramic shot of the bench shows what little work room I have left !

Thanks Al .....but sadly I won’t be getting back to my builds at my bench anytime soon, as I’m going through another nasty spell of back trouble. Hey hoe ! 🥴

Re: 1/8th scale Hot Rod Bench.
You wouldn't have that problem if you would just stick to one at a time.
I was at the bench last night. Plugging away at the body, hoping the picture in my head will start showing itself in the build.

I can’t recall having so many builds going on at one time, Sam
But, I have been occasionally dabbling with them all, with little notable progress as health matters are still hounding me.
