Re: Revell Corvette C5-R Compuware #50
My LHS now carries AK paints, so I will give it a go for this kit. Interestingly, AK states on their website that it is unnecessary to prime the plastic parts prior to using certain extreme metal paints. In this case the roll cage was painted in Dark Aluminum sans primer. We will see what happens when I paint the padding using Tamiya flat black.
The underpan, engine, and drive train, also painted using AK Steel, Chrome, and Aluminum paints.
The body and wing with an initial coat of Tamiya TS-51

Yes Paul; Tamiya TS-51. And if my eyes don't deceive me, it's Mikkola of Finland at the helm of the Toyota.

Re: Revell Corvette C5-R Compuware #50
Awesome paint job. Love the color.
In the past, the trouble I've had with white decals over a dark color is that they lose the 'pop' of their brightness, allowing a 'shadow' of the background to show through. A solution for that is painting the large white sections, doubling up the decals with white decal material, or getting a high quality replacement like Fred Cady decals. Hopefully, the Revell decals are extra thick.

Cheers gents.
The interior is moving along. The dashboard decals required lots of decal softener, but I think they settled down reasonably well.
I rarely take photos in broad daylight, but the paint seems to really sparkle after polishing.
Mike; thanks for the advice. I have just finished decals for the rear wing(upper left corner). What do you think?

Beautiful work! The inner detailing is superb and the body colour is fantastic, especially after polishing.

Re: Revell Corvette C5-R Compuware #50
Cheers everyone.
The decals for the body are 99% done. I had only a couple of issues; probably my technique vice the quality of the decals. I will do a final polish and then gloss coat with Mr. Hi Coating II from Gunze Sangyo. Then it's time to finish the engine and rear suspension. I will attempt to follow Al's fine example with the Toyota Celica by covering the 'Vette in road grime fitting of a 24 hour endurance race.

Re: Revell Corvette C5-R Compuware #50
This is all looking like great work Cole. The decal work really brings it together.
Thanks for the compliment. The 'heavy' stuff was done with a brush (which I assume you won't be doing) and the light 'grime was shot thorough an airbrush. Methinks you'll be doing yours somewhat lighter in application, as it's a race car not a rally car.
