Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Kit was supplied by Revell U.K for a magazine review, so sadly I can only give you the recorded highlights, the body will be airbrushed in Chevrolet Grecian green metallic, the paint was supplied by MCW Lacquers MCW Lacquers
Gearbox was airbrushed in Tamiya XF-19 the masked up so the Engine could be airbrushed in Chevrolet engine orange,
There's a choice of RoStyle wheels or Rallye wheels, i ended up going with the Rallye wheels, i picked out the centre section using Testors steel enamel
The interior was airbrushed with a 50/50 mix of Tamiya rubber black and gloss black
The chrome trim was all picked out using chrome Bare Metal Foil

Nice Geoff, but I know there are chassis pics...
It has a separate frame which is very nice.

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Haven't finished posting yet Shay, I got so far then something came up (Work), I'll get back to it tomorrow
Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Floorpan was first primed, then masked off to paint the inner wings and bulkhead satin black, it was masked up again the airbrush the fuel tank using Testors steel, everything was again masked up so the body colour overspray could be added
The centre console was airbrushed the same black mix I had used for the rest of the interior and the chrome trim was picked out using chrome BMF
Once all the interior parts had been painted and detailed, they could now been fitted onto the floorpan

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Now that I had finished building up the interior, the separate chassis could now bee fitted to the floorpan,
With the wheels added, that finishes off the main chassis, I now need to find a little time to get the bodyshell painted
But I did still have a little amount of work I could carry on with, the rear bumper and panel and the front grille,

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Simply add a drop of the resin into the recess molded into the bumper, add the clear lenses, and set with a UV torch for around 5 seconds

It's always a pleasure watching your builds Geoff. Welcome back, it's nice to see you posting here again. I hope we see many more of your WIP.

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Cheers Curt, hopefully I'll get to build one of my own models soon, then I can post a more in depth WIP, the last model i built was also supplied by Revell (1958 Corvette) and after I've finished the Chevelle I've got a 1/16th VS Beetle to build, again supplied by Revell.

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
It's all good and very well done. One question though. On one of your work in progress photos on FB, you masked off quite a bit of the chassis just to airbrush the two straps holding the fuel tank. Wouldn't it have been a lot easier to simply brush the straps instead of going through the hassle and the cost of masking?

I really don't do that much painting by brush, I much prefer to use the airbrush, and Tamiya masking tape really isn't expensive.
Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
You can't argue with Dave's brush results though to be fair.

Re: Revell Chevy Chevelle 396SS
Dave gets some superb finishes, hard to believe most of the work is done using a Hairy stick, I've spent a small fortune over the years on top quality artists brushes, but only use them on the smaller details, I suppose I enjoy airbrushing too much
