1972 MGB Roadster
My mojo still hasn't returned to previous levels and I've stalled out on the latest desert dio.
So it's time to try something a bit different.
I 'procured' the GT bodyshell at a show a few years ago. The guy had it marked up at a tenner but I turned it down as its very rough. I returned to the stand a few times ostensibly to look at other stuff. The guy knocked it down to eight quid, then to a fiver. Finally on the fourth visit and having bought a couple of things form him, he caved in and gave it to me free!!! RESULT!!
Then I went in search of a donor kit and after a couple of years I finally found a reasonably priced Airfix roadster that the resin GT body was designed for.
Originally, I planned to modify the GT body by adding 'bubble' arches and turning it into a race car. Now however (assuming I use the GT body) I'll settle for lowering it and giving it a set of Minilites and turning it into a fast road car.
So now I have to decide........ roadster or GT? The angle of the GT is not great and it looks much better in person.

It's good you got the body for free. It's pretty rough looking. It'll take a bit of work to look acceptable. I'd go for the roadster. I like the convertible top. What scale is it?

Re: 1972 MGB Roadster
I'd love to see an MGB GT but that looks like hard work Al.
Top up version of the Roadster already looks good.

I'd like to see what you make of the GT, a challenge for sure.

Roadster. I never got the point of the GT in the 1:1.

Re: 1972 MGB Roadster
A lot of trimming and a little filling, but the price was right. Good luck, Al.

I have no opinion on this one but I will be watching regardless of the choice.

Looks great Al, I know what you mean about the 'Mojo'. Spent the day tidying the bench and ordered some bits and bobs.

Looks good to me, Al.
It might be a photographic illusion, but it looks like the front wheels have a deeper dish than the rears - or it could be my aging eyesight. lol

Either stock or slightly lowered both look good. Excellent progress!

Really fab work cleaning up the flash. I luv the MGs. Thanx for the first one I've seen in model form in ages. Among owners back in the day was Linda Ronstadt. She had the hard top (MGB-GT?, in the U.S.).

Great paint color and finish, Al. The stance is perfect and the Minilites look great.
