The big snow.

The UK is in the middle of a Siberian sent snow storm for the last tweny four hours at the moment and it's set to continue on and off (more on than off I believe) for the next seven days. Even the UK Meteorological Office website is down due to having difficulty in obtaining weather info.
It's not quite, but soon will be I fear, the worst snow fall here in the last twenty years. Can't even get the car out of the courtyard to the main road.
Being RWD, it would be crap anyway in the snow. LOL
Looks like I'm stranded at least for a few days.

this was my car at 6 am yesterday when i was going to work
weird thing is i got to Newton Aycliffe which is only 15 miles away and they had only a light sprinkling

Same as that in Dublin Al, and we're waiting for storm Emma to hit the freezing weather, so we have been ordered indoors from 4 pm tomorrow to midday on Friday!
Half of Ireland is already shut down. I'll have to put a jumper on...

Got a months food in the freezers anyway........... so hey ho!
My biggest worry is when the thaw comes............... flooding.
The house is now flood protected but not the outbuildings!!!!!!!

There was a big organised snowball fight in Dublin city center today.
The cops had to put a stop to it, when they stopped laughing.

We had another 9" of snow today. Took me 2.5 hours to dig the car out and get it on the main road.

So that's what snow looks like. I've heard of it! Seriously, were I live we never get the stuff, nearest is Stanthorpe, and that's once every 10 years or so.
Great pics too lads. Looks pretty but I'm sure it's a real PITA sometimes.

We're actually waiting for a tropical storm called Emma to hit the already frozen land and air mass, they are expecting up to a metre of snow.

No snow here now since 3pm yesterday. Yippeee!!!. Not counting my chickens just yet though.
Storm Emma meets the Beast from the East is happening in the UK too Shay, but I think it's going to be confined to the south of the country. At least I hope it is.
The river level is stable at the moment, thank goodness, at .3m. But gord help us when it melts!!!

Here in the U.S. the news showed the snow in Rome. Weather is wilder these days. Here in the Midwest, after a foot of snows melted it was followed by 3.5 inches of rain, worse in southern Midwest. Folks by rivers and ponds got flooded. Here's to better weather and rebirth of Spring.

Just when it stopped and started to slowly melt this morning.it started up again this afternoon, big flakes of wet snow, not the powder type stuff that came first.
