Soviet BT-7 in the snow
built for a 'in the snow GB' elsewhere
really enjoyed this one since i got to try a few new to me techniques
Eastern Express BT-7 done with a white wash winter camo, done by mixing techniques using latex and hair spray
the base is simply a flat bit of polystyrene, liberally covered with pva and a tub of bicarb dumped on it
realised something i forgot to do.....was going to add some 'snow' on the oil drums and on the stowage on the tank before i took some pics.....too late now lol
one for scale

Re: Soviet BT-7 in the snow
That turned out nice Paul.
If it's not to late, give the bi-carb snow a few light coats of clear acrylic. It will give the snow a sparkle and hold it together better.

Cheap hairspray stops it going yellow, and gives it a subtle shine too.

thanks.....it did get a good dose of hair spray....more as a fixer than anything.....but i only did the base for the pics which is why it was cheap n cheerful and improvised.....will end up in the bin

Re: Soviet BT-7 in the snow
2 reasons..........
1 is i dont have the room to put displays, im getting tight for room
2nd is that bicarb isnt 'stable'.........it will not take long before it starts to go yellowish and from what ive read it can also react to some degree become a sticky gunk......cos it will attract moisture from the air

Re: Soviet BT-7 in the snow
ive read how sometimes after 6-12 months it will start to yellow, and start to turn to gloop where it contacts plastic......might be that you have yours in a really dry atmosphere

Re: Soviet BT-7 in the snow
One of the reasons i always mix bicarb with PVA when i do snow, it dries quite water resistant and you can mold it a little when it starts to go off which is a bonus if you want to have snow hanging over the edge of something.
