Salt Flats '17
While finishing up on the '34 coupe, Igor started rumaging in the salvage for another project. Said he had a hankering to hit Wendover this year.
He had fund a ratty Deuce frame, but it didn't seem to be wanting to adjust to a new life.
But. look what he drug to the shop ! Looks like one of Barris's creations.
found a rear end.
and a gluebomb big block that he cleaned up and started to re assemble.
A chromed oil pan, Igor ?? REALLY ??
Anyway, we bashed up some salvage stuff for a front end.
Then he discovered a highrise intake. Hope we can find a couple of matching carbs,

Yes, interesting frame. Reminds me of a Christmas table centerpiece we once had.
Quick work of this one.

I deal with t his all of the time, even so, I was surprised at the amount of paint on the body. The flat black was VERY hard. A soak in brake fluid barely got to it, but, after that, I discovered it had etched a layer of orange paint, and there was a layer of red under that. The door and trunk lines were filled flush. But, I carry on !

Maybe leaving it in those colors would work? Best to you in the pro-ject. Hope it doesn't become a re-ject!

Igor has plumbed the carbs on his highrise intake, and meanwhile, I'm making a plate for the grill shell.
Here is a cool looking hood from something or other, and I'm wondering if I can make it work.
I think this is gonna work with a little tweaking.

Looking good Clay. I'm holding my breath though. With the snow pack we have this year there is a possibility the flats will be knee deep again this year.

Up on wheels with a boiler plate floor board (coffee can aluminum seal).
Kudos to the suggestion of using the filament from an automotive turn signal bulb as a throttle return spring. Worked out great !

I notice your model front ends are where the "artsy" work is most memorable! Best to you in progress!

Details are all completed inside of the body and on the chassis. Just need to get them together.

Hey Clay. Plastic spoons make cool hood scoops/blisters. They come in many sizes and shapes, and many are free.
