Hi Colin,
Looking great so far Sir...
With regards to the door pins, is there no way of extending the pin and then gently heating up a small flat screw driver and melting just the tops of the pins to stop them from falling off...

Was thinking of drilling, pinning with a thin length of wire Andy..... however you may be onto something with plastic rod, will have a go mate .... nice one.

Re: Monogram '31 Ford Model A
I have been able to fit the door to the body with tape and then using a .025" drill bit drilled through both top and bottom hinge. Then using a straight pin (they measure about .024") snip them very short and used them for a hinge pin. The head points upward and look to be part of the hinge.
I hope this helps.

Re: Monogram '31 Ford Model A
After a few days "off modeling" due to my youngest lad and his partner having a holiday up here i ventured back into the cave and did a little
Got the pedal assembly in place
Installed the brake reservoir, the hinges are done and work a treat .. don't know wheather to leave them "chrome" or paint them body colour. Laid a chrome trim around the body work
got the back seats in place (the instructions say to glue them to the inside of the body but that seems a little hit and miss so i went this route after a few angle measurements

Hi Colin,
Love seeing this come together, I like seeing the chrome hinge pins, they look well with the body trim...

Just adding the finishing touches now
Got the bulkhead rods in place
Having to do the same as Al for the bonnet as it was a very poor fit when assembled as per the destructions
Decided on red plates, gave the whole lot a paint over with acrylic
rubbed the highlights off with a cocktail stick shaved into a flat end with a scalpel

Re: Monogram '31 Ford Model A
It's looking good Colin and I like the number plate tip.
The kit radiator braces, as always, look out of scale. If it's not too late, I think you should replace them with some thinner styrene rod. JMO.

Re: Monogram '31 Ford Model A
Yes, radiator braces are a tiny bit thick. That's a problem with any thin moulded plastic, from steering wheels to old style wire wheels. Still, the engine compartment is looking good!

Like the job you're doing with this one, Colin. You just might convince me to dig mine out again.

Love the license plate; must give that technique a try. Those hinges are some of the best I've seen.

advice taken on board and changed as it wasn't too late.
Fuse wire and some red rubber dampeners that i saw somewhere sometime on something similar ... if they're totally wrong then i'll get rid ... but i like them

Hi Colin,
Brilliant Sir, love the door card touch too, I thought you'd been using that flocking stuff at first...

Re: Monogram '31 Ford Model A
Inner door touch and wheel centers are most excellent. Rubber "dampers" on the radiator supports not to my liking, but it's your work, so please yourself. I like the way the shifter comes up through the floorboards, very real!
