Painting over chromed ABS plastic

Any one able to help here? Got the dash out of the car, and want to repaint the instrument (what there is of them!) surround. Its chrome plated plastic, ABS from the feel of it.

I've stripped the paint, now I need to match the silver & a satin black. Etch primer or dedicated plasitic primer?

I painted over kit chrome wheels, just used an automotive primer then colour coat, if that's any help...

Steel wool to the chrome, then a good etching primer followed by a good sandable primer, then paint. That is what I've always done for Chrome Plated Plastic that I wanted to paint.

I find the etching primer to be thick, like a filler primer. I would skip that and just shot it with a good primer. Before you do wipe it down good with Rubbing Alcohol. it won't hurt the plastic and will get rid of the oils and such from handling it.
