Re: Frenchies Bar
Ditto what Skid said. I had a picture (I can't find now) of one with a black body and white fenders, That might work also.

Re: Frenchies Bar
Okay, Black and white it is. I tried painting the fender assembly black and the cab a combination of black and white, but I DIDN'T LIKE IT AT ALL. Consequently the body is laying in the Purple Pond at the moment. When it is cleaned up I am going to paint the fender assembly and the hood black. The cab will be white. I think when it is done it will look good. It will be a couple of days though. Stand by.
In the meantime, I'll get the chassis and engine ready to go. Things should start to come together sometime next week.

Buck: The body needs to be white. If it was black it would wash out the door decals; they are meant to go on a light colored body.

Re: Frenchies Bar
They had white on just the door panels back in Ohio
Are you going to have a push bar on the front, a lot of them had them for pushing cars or pick up's off the road when they broke down ??
Going to be a great dio when done

Reinforced front bumper...makes sense to me. White doors are fine were often done.

Re: Frenchies Bar
I have had enough guys not like the color scheme that I am going to change it. It will still be black and white, but will have a different break line. I'll post a photo in the next couple of days.
As far as a push bumper goes, I think I'll pass. In 1942 push bumpers were not common. When I first went into law enforcement in 1962 push bumpers were still rare. It wasn't until the late 60s that you began to see them routinely.

Here is what I hope is the last color scheme for the Sheriff's car.

It obviously needs some clean up and foiling. Let me know what you guys think of this one.
For some reason only one of the photos posted. The first photo can be seen by clicking on the link.

Re: Frenchies Bar
I think that looks bang on.... How are you going to get around the decal problem you mentioned earlier, maybe a white panel on the door?

I bit the bullet and ordered another set of decals that should be okay on black as they have a white background. We'll see how they do. They came in the mail today, but it will be another two or three days before the paint has cured enough for me to be comfortable applying them.

Re: Frenchies Bar
If this car had been a 4 door sedan at the beginning the panel breaks would have sorted themselves out for this black and white business. Maybe. Suggest making it the chiefs car and chrome the siren..................Cheers Eh!

Re: Frenchies Bar
Had one of those sleepless nights that old men have from time to time. I decided to put my time to good use and finished the Sheriff's car.
I dirtied up the car a bit. Try as he might the Sheriff just can't keep his car completely clean on all those dirt roads.
I want to say thanks again to DublinBoy (Shay) for sending me the emergency lights and siren. They really helped.
Now that the vehicles are done it's time to get back on the diorama proper. I'm hoping to have it completed by September, but will lose some build time in August when a certain Englishman wings his way to the colonies to watch cars go fast on salt. Besides that I have another car in my stash that has nothing to do with the diorama that keeps calling to me.

That's right John, blame me. You might as well, I seem to get the blame for everything!!! LOL
It's looking good though. Two suggestions: a wash on the grille and change the aerial for a bit of thin wire. It looks too thick.

Re: Frenchies Bar
I agree with Al the Antenna does look a little thick. Other than that it rocks.

Re: Frenchies Bar
I agree about the antenna. Don't know if I can get it out though. It's anchored pretty good and it's a sewing needle that is so hard it doesn't lend itself to being drilled out. Buck and Al, maybe when you Guys are here you can give me some ideas about removing it.
Shay, the radio is mounted under the dash. I tried to get a photo, but didn't have any luck.
