I do luv the Castrol colored cars and the decals will be a job! Somebody did a really nice Tamiya Audi (?) racer and it came out super, or supra! Good luck on a beauty!

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
so finally got round to some kind of update
for the last week ive not been able to do much for a variety of reasons, work getting in the way being the main one,.......slicing my right thumb for another!,.....its not bad but its in such a place its been hard to pick things up or use a knife or paint brush without it hurting
but ive managed to get lots of bits painted in advance using rattle cans, the seat is decaled up, havnt got any aftermarket belts of i might have tried using them
shell has had a light coat of white
now i have a few rest days from work i plan on cracking on with this

That's coming along nicely Paul. You'll do fine with the body.

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
Really nice work. Luv the interior where the roll cage dominates. The seat looks great too. I'm crossing my fingers the rest will go smoothly. Take your time, we can wait. Good luck with the thumb too. I nicked mine a few weeks ago and it was a real hassle too.

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
finally got up the enthusiasm to make a start on the decals
considering they are tamiya and the kit is not very old (bought in a shop only a few months ago) they seem quite delicate

Nice start on the decals. My least favorite part of a build.

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
i am making progress......honest! lol
just very slow progress........some very dodgy decals considering i only bought the kit a few months ago.......very fragile, had a few break up
im trying to get all the red/green swirly bits done first since they are the largest

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
Paul.... I built this one a while back and while it's a nice kit, the decals are not the best. Mine didn't break up but didn't conform well, even with Microsol.
You have most of the hard ones done and it's looking very nice ondeed but IIRC, the hardest of all are these ones:
Don't want to dampen your spirits but if yours are breaking up, you may want to use paint instead.
I did manage to get mine on but not without a lot of effort.

Re: Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra GT
just to show im still working on this.......... finding i can only do 3 or 4 decals at a time cos they are so delicate, coupled with my lack of time at the bench at the mo means its becoming a long job

cant believe how long this has took, the decals were horrible to do, had some break up, some totally dissolve!!
next step is the panel lines, then i can crack on with it.......this has taken so long i just want to get it done

Looking at the model you would never believe there is a decal problem. Nice work.
