A.C. Cobra 427.
It's the Revell ex Monogram kit in 1;24.
I have not done a great deal yet apart from painting the suspension and chassis.
I have however cut down the wheel backs so they actually look like wheels...LOL
I wanted 3 for the photo and one original 'disc' which was as well as my fingers ached afterwards seeing that the centre nub is required for wheel fitting..
I have spent a full 2 days on the shell, looks nice at a glance but ohh boy are those mold lines persistant!!
Wet sand being sure not to flatten the wing tops and reprime. Then all the way front to rear there was a very faint 'ghost' line so out with the filler/primer,it's all good now.The grille surround was fun too!
All for now.

Looks good 001 This is not an easy kit to build, I built the Monogram version and had a lot of fitting to do. I think I have it posted on here but not sure.

Yopu are off to a bang up start. I have this kit in my stash and was curious how it would be. Thanks for building it.

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
Cheers John and Bucky.
I intend to build it as a road car so will be using the supplied windshield and might possibly build it as a kit car...Gadzooks the horror!
But it gives me options for a few devious ideas I have like a turbo and a mesh grille...

Godd start Nige.
I built this one a few years back and it's a nice kit to build.

Nice work with the wheels- I must try it sometime. And I share your pain re the mouldlines.
Still, better now then later.

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
The wheel backs were sprayed black and dusted with pixie dust, then fitted.
Been having a bash at the dash too.
The suspension is mostly fitted, doubt if you can see but the coil overs have been done in gold leaf by Tamiya.
One thing sadly lacking in this kit is the trunk and floor,so I cut one out of an old 289 Cobra and it fits a treat!

Super build you got going on this one. Did you foil the dash with something?

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
Cheers Buck.
It is indeed foiled and I have been rolling the knurled end of a craft knife over it.It is not finished yet as I need to get into the 'corners' and smooth off the foil in a few areas. Then comes the decals....Eek,dont like the instrument decals in general but hey ho! might get lucky this time..

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
Neat idea on the trunk. For something different I like the idea of a turbo, or one of those Paxton type belt driven ones like on the Mustangs. I hope the wheels work, will you be adding brakes, I wonder? What I see in the fotos of the possible wheels, they wouldn't show much thru the spokes, so that's optional. Gud luk!

The trunk looks right at home there and the dash is coming along nicely.

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
Cheers guys.
Well the trunk was boxed in and fitted today.
Of course this meant removing the 'trunk floor' molded into the chassis.
Then I started on making a couple of door cards, they still require more work..
Earlier finished the dash, the decals went in nicely and they were covered in Humbrol Clearfix.

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
Nice work Nige but you might want to ditch the door cards. Cobra's didn't have any.

GENTS,A QUESTION FOR YOU.......
I am thinking of adding a turbo,but...Should it one turbo per bank or would a single turbo work?
What would be the procedure with turboing a V8 engine?
Cheers in advance for any input.

Re: A.C. Cobra 427.
You can put a Turbo just about anywhere in the exhaust system. Some of the new Corvettes and Camaros have the turbo in the rear. Some it goes kinda like this. The exhaust goes into and out of the turbo housing. Then there is an intake tube that goes through the turbo also. So it gets air from outside and compresses it then sends it to the intake manifold and what ever you have there. Like a carb or injection. Hope this helps.

Nige, another option would be a centrifugal supercharger
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=centrifugal+supercharger&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&gws_rd=cr
Here's one I fitted to a Lincoln V8
Shelby built 2 super snakes in '66 fitted with twin Paxton Superchargers

Whatever you do a forced induction Cobra would be insane.
