‘65 Corvette Gasser (1/8th)
1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Gasser.
This model has been completed for a few years now, and was my first serious attempt at detailing and scratch-building in 1:8th scale. Obviously the large scale helps to build so much within a model - but considering the size of this kit, it lacks such a lot of detail compared to the smaller 1/24th scale models. Optional extras are nil compared what is often included in smaller scale, and the only answer is to create your own. It’s not that hard if you are a seasoned modeller - but if certain parts can’t be exact scale, then it has to be accepted that certain items have at least the ‘appearance’ of true scale - but of course, that is true for any scale that you are building in.

Unbelievable, especially at a first attempt. I fully agree about accurate scale. Make it look real, and close enough counts. Years ago there was a resin company that made super detailed engines, Ross Gibson engines. They were labeled as 1/25. Many people complained that they were more like 1/24. I have a few and will put them in 1/24 models. Problem solved
For my first attempt, the Bobtail T, I added the sparkplug wires, fuel lines, and brakes lines. They "disappeared" into areas that looked "correct". I also added more detail to the shifter knob, and added a boot, all of which added to the overall appearance. I know that the Monogram kits lack detail on the small block chevy engines, many times called nothing more than a blob. Adding more, accurate detail enhances them.

Yes, I would often mix and match 1/24 and 1/25th, if they looked okay.
Those with eagle eyes, or the rivet counters would spot the deliberate mistakes and point them out - and occasionally I’ve answered ; ‘okay - now let’s see your model of this kit’.
We all can spot the errors or infractions, especially in our own models, but unless they are ‘way out’ I think we just have to let them pass.
Personally, I like a bit of constructive criticism, because if it does point out something that I have overlooked, I can often put it right - it’s when the model is finished, that it becomes irksome.

I used to have this kit years ago with the intention of building it as a Gasser as you have. Even bought R/c wheels and tyres for it but never got it started.
Another great build Ron.
I couldn't agree more Ron.

The rivet counters are the worst Ron.
IMPS had a show here in Swords years ago, young Al came over and a couple of other lunatics...ahem
We arrived down with loads of cars, there was mild panic as they had never seen cars before and we were given our own table eventually. Al the jammy bar stewart got a trophy as I remember!

Re: ‘65 Corvette Gasser (1/8th)
A couple of weeks ago, IPMS North Riding branch were holding an open day in Guisborough, and I really fancied popping along - not too far to travel, an hour away, to see other guy’s work up close. I contacted them through faceb**k to ask if there were any car builders, to be told all they built was military vehicles and aircraft - so I didn’t bother when I awoke to a torrential morning’s weather on the day. The Military/Aircraft section is well catered for in modelling, and I have built more than my share in the past too, but I was hoping for at least a car or two.

Re: ‘65 Corvette Gasser (1/8th)
Ron, it's not Orange.
It's Zero Paints Fine Metalic Silver base coat over coated with Zero Paints Clear Candy Apple Red..... only I applied just enough coats to get the depth I wanted.
Hence the lighter shade.
