'40 Ford Pick Up Gasser Empty '40 Ford Pick Up Gasser

Hey, the sun came out!! '40 Ford Pick Up Gasser 1705482731 This represents a late 50s or early 60s build, hence the high front end. The steelies are Modelhaus and the tires AMT Pie Crusts. All the rest is box stock ( except the chassis parts and license plate).

Andy, the idea was to aid weight transfer. It is easier to throw the weight onto the rear slicks with the nose in the air. NHRA finally added a rule about crankshaft centerline height. Now it there are crankshaft centerline heights for different classes. They whole thing got out of hand the noses were so high in the air you couldn't see to drive it down the strip. Hope this helps.

Bruce.... fantastic looking model, unusual vehicle, not familiar with the concept, certainly looks the part though.

Luv the Ford pickup! It's a nice change from the usual Willys ones. True too about rules, always had rules, even back to early days, things like how far engines could be set back. Without rules folks will try anything, tossing safety to the wind (and at 100 mph+ there was a lotta wind!). Thanx for a swell job, I am smilin'!
