1960 Ford Falcon Two Door sedan
I am going to post the wip pictures first so you have an idea of how extensive the restoration was. I started with this brown, curbside kit. I stripped the paint only to find black underneath...and what looked like 100 grit sand marks. Since almost all the detail was sanded off, I decided to make it a mild custom, and finished removing the trim.

You have your work cut out for you there Sam.
It looks like a lot of effort sanding and scraping? Do you not use a form of paint remover ?
I recall a kind of thick paste that you covered the body in, and placed it in a sealed plastic bag overnight - by morning the paste and paint fell off without damaging the plastic.
Not sure if it is still available. 🥴

Wow Sam, that sure is going to be a lot of work. Kudos for taking it on, don't think I would have.
Ron.... on the paint stripper side, I immerse bodies to stripped in Dot 4 brake fluid for twenty four hours then rinse off in running warm water using an old toothbrush.

I've bought couple of built kits in similar condition. An over night soak in caustic soda revealed pristine body in one case. The second........not so pristine.
Looks like the B pillar has been cut to make hardtop? Good luck, I do like me a good restoration.

Thanks everyone. Hear is the next step, A Ranchero body gave up its life for a good cause. Followed by a little scratch building, and a mockup.

Nice work ! If you hadn’t shown the repair and rebuild I wouldn’t have known the effort that had gone into it.
- pity a good Ranchero had to give up it’s life, but it has turned out really well.

Ron, the Ranchero kit is plentiful and cheap. The chassis from this kit was used under the sedan delivery I built, and the body for this. So nothing went to waste.

That's some nice work Sam. Well done.
I presume the seemingly endless 'filling' work will follow?

Here are a few pics to catch up with. I wont boor you with the rinse and repeat that Al mentioned I had to polish the glass, and used Novus products. Detailed out the chassis, and interior. Also stripped and "re-chromed" the bumpers. Oh, and my plan was white...as in, covers a multitude of sins.

Looking great Sam, and I can’t see the joins.
White is a good colour, but I also understand people leaving cars in primer - that gloss coat can really show any imperfections.
Interior looks well, so is this going to be near stock, with aftermarket wheels ?
