Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
[quote="Ron234"]Well spotted Shay ! ....the ‘turbo’ intake is an old ‘oil cooler’ trick to direct air flow onto the filter....not sure it worked.
CPY was still the 1200. After I put the 1500 Anglia into a ditch and bent it, I sold the car with engine - but removed the Lotus steels and tyres. I had limited room to keep cars and although I had hoped to swap the engine over again, my pal who helped in the job had gone back to Hull Uni, so I had to make a quick decision to get some money back.
The extra engine parts that both fitted the 1200 and 997 engine that I had accumulated were swapped over. That included the 28/36 Weber on a gas flowed manifold, and the gas flowed exhaust manifold - not much else to be honest. Not forgetting the obligatory alloy rocker cover, pancake air filter, and PECO back box ! Although a good few had their heads removed and skimmed to get extra compression, valves reground, a good decoke and properly set up. I can see myself now sitting at the newspaper covered kitchen table, twirling those valves in grinding paste. Just those changes gave the little engines extra poke.
[/Aquote]
Actual engine tuning Ron, not just chipping the computer. I had a Mk1 Fiesta 1300 Supersport, that was faster than an XR2 thanks to a stage two head, banana bunch header and bits and pieces from Janspeed.

Thanks Sam.
I find myself often thinking of changing the wording to the American vernacular. If boot is trunk and hood is bonnet, what singular word do you call a convertible roof that we call a hood ?

Early Fiestas - great little cars Shay, with simple mechanics, very similar to the Anglia concept.....lots of fun.
I bet your Supersport was a Diamond White version with red/maroon striping ? .....or was it Sunburst Red, Black or Strato Silver ??
If you want to talk Fiestas, these three have stories to tell....

Well, today’s painting hasn’t turned out too well - getting a couple of runs which will mean an overnight drying before wet sanding off. I have been trying to get a gloss coat straight out of the gun, so to speak, but I might have to settle for a lot of light coats, followed by flatting and clear lacquer. 🥴

I try to use your terminology when I remember. I did not know that hood was what we call a convertible top. That is a big help. Now, wings are what we call fenders? Spats are mud flaps? What about bumpers? Any corrections will be appreciated.
I still have the book that Al gave me. "How to speak Gordie." will that help with vehicular terminology?

Sam, a hood is a convertible top, wings are fenders, bonnets are hoods boots are trunks and a boot lids are decks.
And tyres are tires.

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
The Supersport was black with red stripes Ron, the bloody things are approaching 30 grand now!
Couldn't unstick it in the dry with 185/60/13s on it unless you went mental.
I'd love another one properly modified. All I have left of my one is the spare RS 4 spoke alloy wheel.
I tried to knock a rather large wall down with it....lol

The paint has proved slightly worrisome, but eventually I was satisfied with the Olympic blue finish and allowed a couple of days for it to go off before taping the stripes - and give you a rest from my ramblings.
Ivory stripes taper to follow the car’s swage lines on the bonnet, roof and boot lid - the twin lines suggested by Al, mask any signs of the joining of the two halves of the body. Unfortunately, the tape has marked the blue paint, so it is another wait while the paint hardens before another light sand then apply the lacquer - hopefully today or tomorrow.

Now those twin stripes look the 'biz' Ron. Well done.

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
The lacquering went well today and I intend to leave things to harden for another couple of days before handling the body, and concentrate on the final details, such as towing eyes, headlights, taillights and the window glazing......I can see the chequered flag in the distance, and onto the finishing straight.
.....waddya know Shay, with only four colours to choose from, and I still got it wrong.
I have a fondness for Mk1 Fiestas, almost as much as Anglias. Incidentally, here’s what the red ‘rally’ Fiesta turned out like - almost a Supersport replica ? .....it was originally one of my business’ vans.

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
Myself and a fitter from the Ford dealership where I used to work from bought a write-off Mk1 XR2....he got the engine, I got the interior and wheels. My ‘van’ still had the 1100 engine, but I bought a package from Janspeed that included 4 branch manifold, intake and carb and stage 2 head.....supposedly giving an extra 30hp. If I remember correctly it cost about £400, a lot of money at the time.

Nice find for the headlights Ron.
My 1300 had much the same engine spec except it already had the 34 Weber twin choke carb and intake manifold.
I brought it back from Brum to Dublin in 1991.
It used to frighten grown Sales Managers in 2 litre injection Sierras back in the day. lol

Nice headlights. I wish my brain worked a little bit like yours. I would have just seen flashlight lenses...
When I built that Bobtail T, I didn't like how the shifter came through the floorboard. I wanted to make a boot for it but had no idea what to use. My wife came in with a pair of silicone ear bud covers in black, and said "would these work?".... She's a keeper!
Do you have any leftover red sprue from a past build?

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
I’ll have to finish off putting the thread together on the Bobcat, Sam, sorry, I did promise this week, but the Anglia got me sidetracked.
You will then see there isn’t much left of the original kit.

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
Today, all being well, I’ll continue adding the detail to the Anglia - and I hope to post a photo later today on how it’s progressing.
I’ve started adding the windows - and finding old clear CD cases are a good source of glazing.

Re: 1963 Ford Anglia 105e
This weekend’s progress.
Just been adding detail and touching up .....still a couple of days to the actual finish. Windows are still setting and the windscreen needs to be flexy to allow springing of the body over the chassis platform. One door window needs removing and re-glueing back in, correctly. My amber transparent paint has dried up, so I need that for the rear tail lights. Wheels have had a coat of dark grey to give them more definition - boot hinges need pining together - plus lots of other little bits and bobs to complete. Almost done.
