Belkits Skoda Fabia
Another from my part build collection, Belkits Fabia.
All the sprue’s are still in the bags except for the body which I found like this.
There’s pe stuff too which will be interesting and probably frustrating but we’ll see what happens, this won’t be getting crushed, it’s too expensive for that so I will finish it!! Don’t know when but I will.
Looks like I clear coated it too and the majority of the decals are pretty good. Bumper seems to be the only one that’s a bit creased but not surprising really, it looks really bendy.
I’ll do some of this while I wait for my hlj order and this’ll go in the box again.
Thanks

Yeah that’s the one, it’s just weird that the car is moulded with a dent, unless it’s for the bonnet lights and if you fit those don’t it and if you don’t, then use it kinda thing

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
That makes sense, I’ll have another look through the instructions, It’s all away now so I’ll have a look tomorrow.
That decals thing works like a charm btw, I was scared of 2 decals, 1 went on easier than I thought but the other was a bit harder so didn’t sit 100% and I didn’t want to make it worse so I’m leaving it as is

Nice. I've got two 6R4's from Belkits to do. I've cut the hatch and bonnet open so have opened the way to a lot of pain.

The 6r4 is a beauty and I’d definitely like one of those one day, sounds like an immense amount of pain, do you have loads of pe stuff for the engine too or just as is but loads of wires and pipes and all manner of intricate details?

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
Looked through the instructions again and the black rectangle is redundant with no mention of it anywhere and it gets painted black which was a problem because that area down to the bottom is painted black before the decal goes on and half the car has got decals on already.
Don’t know if I realised it before and that’s why I put it back in the box. I worked out a way to do it without killing anything else. Taped up the front bumper around where the lines needed to be and onto the bonnet then taped a cut down bin liner to that masking and it worked!
Well chuffed but then realised the very bottom section should also be black but I’ll do that after the clear is on.

It has the full on engine and PE. There was actually a model shop within seven miles of where I lived and I had no idea it existed until they announced in the local news that they were retiring so I went down and went a bit crazy buying out some of there stock. I got two of the 6r4's for £20 a piece among other things.

Wow what a bargain!!!
Sounds like it’s going to be an interesting build at the end of it, good luck!
I use zero paints micro filler primer, can I use it on photo etch or do I need different stuff?

I have no idea Ash. All I've ever done with PE is superglue it on and paint it where necessary.

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
Oh, the recessed vents within the bonnet have pe parts which are supposed to be black so maybe I’ll just stick them in place and deal with it when I need too.
The decals are done and none passed away
Al your decal tutorial is wicked, you’ve saved me grands in replacement kits and decals!
Im actually liking this one for a change

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
Well that soon ended, went to get the headlights and they aren’t there the spoiler is also missing. I started this not long before me and my ex split up.
Spotmodel have the spoiler sprue in stock but not the lights, they are on back order.
Now I don’t know what to do.
I could buy one sprue and the back ordered ones never actually arrive €20 + shipping
Bummer

Glad it worked out for you Ash. It's all down to knowledge and confidence.
As for the light lenses, try searching ebay for the sprue you need.
Failing that, try making some from clear overhead projection sheet. (assuming it's still available!! LOL)

Hi Ash,
Do Belkits not do replacements, might be worth dropping them an email and ask if they have any spares...
The other thing you could try for the headlights is some UV Resin, it takes seconds to set with a UV torch...

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
I’ve mailed the belkits people, it’s the actual light buckets not the lens unfortunately.
Doing so well too, I’ll clear coat it tomorrow and put it back in the box for if I ever get the parts
Next up will be as of Friday if my delivery arrives
Impreza wrc (again but hoped with better results)

Re: Belkits Skoda Fabia
The plot thickens, after checking through the parts it appears I have 2 sets of gravel suspension, 1 with the kit and the other is in the little box which is like an extras thing to do the gravel version.
The headlights are on the tarmac suspension sprue so I don’t think I ever got it and obviously never noticed.
I’ve seen a kit on eBay which comes with the pe set and some different decals, I may get that, steal the lights and see if I can sell the sprues as spares on fb
