1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Empty 1948 MG TC (Race conversion)

Post by Skid Wed 30 Oct 2019, 3:51 pm

Since the Tyrell has gone back in the box for now, I'm going to get cracking on something with larger parts and this is it:

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Hd_10110

Not going to be 'stock' though, going to build it as a race car, something along these lines, but without the cycle wings:

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Biga10

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Classi10

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Ht-now10

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Img_7810

1948 MG TC (Race conversion) Mg-tc-10

I'd like to do it without the rear wings to but not sure how I'd make a 'boat tail'

That's a pretty cool model.  I built it many, many years ago when it was an Entex release. Before I started detailing models.

The only part that gave a slight headache was getting the piano hinge hoodpieces to fit the body lines properly.

I see what you mean about the bonnet not fitting. Shouldn't be an issue for me Mike, as I
will be leaving the side panels off.

First job (after building the chassis) is going to be butchering the body. Not going to try and scratch a boat tail but all the hatched sections will be removed.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Some progress at last.

I have a rolling chassis:

And a mock up to tease you. The hatched sections will of course be removed in due course.

Well, taking the bull etc, I hacked away at the body. Too late to change my mind now!! 1948 MG TC (Race conversion) 1792231099

I'm still unsure as to wether or not I should remove the rear fenders or leave as is. It could be a little tricky methinks!!! 1948 MG TC (Race conversion) 3298140763

Great work! I really like the spoked wheels for the tyres, they look very nice. Not sure about the rear fenders - they might add a nice touch if left on but I also really like the look of the fenderless example you posted. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will look excellent.

I built the road version of the '48 MG-TC. I never did like the so-called wire wheels in this kit. The spokes are too thick.
