1948 Ford Coupe
This is the next car intended for the cruise in on the Ruth's Place diorama.
The model will be built as a hot rod, not a police car. Surprise, surprise.
I'm using the drop axle from the Revell 48 Ford Custom coupe to give the model a very slight rake.
The coupe is meant to be a daily driver so the frame and chassis will show wear and weathering.
That's it for today. More tomorrow. My wife and I are doing much better and accordingly I will be back to modeling on a pretty steady basis. Feels good to be back.

I'm glad to hear you're both feeling better. The chassis looks top notch John!

Looking okay! I remember seeing lots of sedans for police. Gotta keep the bad guys in the back seat! A coupe would more likely be for catching speeders. That's a new kit to me.

That's because it is new. It just came out with in the last month or two. I'm so glad Revell decided to do a stock kit. I never cared for the chopped top on the custom version.harron68 wrote:Looking okay! I remember seeing lots of sedans for police. Gotta keep the bad guys in the back seat! I do wish I'd picked up the custom version just for the parts. Oh well.

Ace: In the early days of the CHP cars weren't standardized. For the most part the Traffic Officers rode motorcycles and supervisors drove cars. The cars might be two or four door models. The last two door patrol cars that I'm sure of were the 1950 Oldsmobiles. There may have been others, but I'm not aware of them.

Re: 1948 Ford Coupe
I deliberately left out the Mustang and Camero. I never considered them PATROL UNITS. They were special duty units meant to chase speed. Granted they could do the entire job, but chasing speed was their real job.
