Hmmm.... I'm a bit less than totally happy with the masking but I think I can do some touching up to make it look half decent.
The eagle eyed among you, will notice that the top of the scuttle is black, a deviation from my inspiration car:
That's 'cos I wasn't confident about getting a nice clean curve to the black, at the bottom of the A pillars, where I did all that filling and sanding!! ie I bottled it. LOL
I'll let it sit now for a few days, sort out the touch ups then clear coat it with my usual auto 2k stuff.

Even in 1/16 that curve at the A pillar is a bear. I got so frustrated with it in 1/25 that the kit ended up back in the box. Gonna have to get that out again one of these days. The custom decals are going to waste. Good luck with yours.

Gosh it looks nice! I always struggled with what tape to use to mask. Best of luck with the rest. Take your time.

At least the white touch up will be less noticeable than black. I'm sure you'll make it look fine. The black and white makes for a very striking looking model.
Hang in there, Al.

Al: I've got the same problem on the Sheriff's car. Gonna be watching to see how you solve yours.

Ya boo and sucks!! Not going to tell you, so there!!!
Nothing revolutionary John, just gently sand away as much black as possible, then touch in with some thinned white brushing paint, followed by local masking along the demarcation line and 'blowing in' white with a .3mm air brush.
At least that's the plan.
Apart from painting the interior and interior detail, the rest of the build pretty much depends on the body/fender assembly being married with the chassis, so I'm a bit stuck for a few days until I'm sure the black is fully dry.

I think you're being a little too critical with yourself Al.
That looks like a nice job, it'll look fantastic when it's assembled and been given a bit of spit and polish.

Al, I'm sure the real 1:1 cars of the day wouldn't have been perfect either considering what they had to work with. Great job and it looks the business end of the deal! Can't wait to see some decals on this monster.

Re: 1/16th Ford Model A (Police Sergeant's Car)
Thanks for the kind compliment guys, they keep this old geezer going.!! LOL
A bit of spit and polish applied Colin!! LOL.
Fresh out of the drying oven. The finish isn't as good as I would like (but then are we EVER satisfied with our own work??? LOL) but it's done and it's time to progress the build.. I'll let it sit now for 24 hours, when I will start work on the bonnet.
That's another 'wibbly wobbly' working part, so I'm going to dispense with the working parts and 'fix' it.
But should I fix it closed, so the whole of it needs to be removed to see the engine etc, or fix it in the half open position, so the carb and exhaust side can permanently be seen on display??
Opinions would be appreciated guys.

I like the idea of being half opened personally. It'd give you something to talk about when someone ask about it. Your paint job on this rocks! Love it! Keep up the great work!

Re: 1/16th Ford Model A (Police Sergeant's Car)
Thanks Jason.
Question for JohnJ:.......
The Tommy gun in my inspiration car has a black stock and grips. Most if not all of the images I see on the web show them as natural wood.
Would the Police versions have been black?

When I first went to work for the Department in 1965 all the "Tommy Guns" had been placed in storage at the Academy armory. The only one I actually saw was out at the range. It had a standard wooden stock. I assume the others were the same. Hope this helps Skid.
Also, I found this photo in one of my books on the CHP. It is in black and white, but it is pretty obvious that the stock is wood.

Thanks for that John.
That's what I thought but confirmation is good.
