Textured paint
JohnJ mentioned recently about using cheap craft paint mixed with baking powder to create textured paint. Previously I used a bottle of Tamiya stuff but now it's just about empty.
Now the Tamiya stuff averages about £10 per 100ml bottle.
At my local art store I picked up these four 500ml bottles for just £11.44.
Together with a couple of tubs of baking powder, I have enough to make two litres of textured paint for no more than £15.00
Plus I have the advantage of custom mixing the colours I want in small, useable batches.
RESULT!!
Thanks John.

Re: Textured paint
Don't forget other mixing substances like fine sand, cigarette/cigar ash, flour, salt, any of the spice rack items .. the list is endless.
Like I said I use this technique all the time and have done since i was making railway scenery thirty plus years ago.
I have tried mixing acrylic paint with ground pastels with some sucess too, these however go hard even in an air tight tub in a few days.... chalks seem fine.
Good price for those paints Al ....

Cool! Anything that makes things easier (and cheaper) is appreciated.

Re: Textured paint
I doubt it John. It would be far to coarse methinks. Try Tamiya masking tape.

Check out Rustoleum Fine Textured spray paint. I use it for simulating undercoating and for the wrinkle finish that was so popular in the 60s. I think I bought at Walmart for less than $4 a can.
