Just had a brainwave while eating poptarts some of the wrappers are gold which makes for nice looking floorboard heat insulation on racecars and the foil from the inside of cigarette boxes has a nice texture for the same purpose just use your favorite white glue for adhesion

Good never knows where inspiration will come from.

Another cool tip for realistic looking blower belts is old printer drive belts...they look very nice.

I did use this technique on my Mercedes SLS build. It forms around curves easily and a little dab of glue and it's all good.

I use aluminium cooking foil to make tarps when doing armour cos its thin so dosnt look overscale and you can make it form to the shape of whatever is underneath
