That is a triumph Al, the patches on the roof are just brilliant and with the figure in place it will be a real focal point in the diorama as well as a touch of humour. Proper modelling!!

Great looking pump, Al.

It brings back memories of walking with my Grandad in Chicago when I was young. There was a similar one on the street with a 'bowl' that circled the pump. As he pumped, I began drinking from the 'bowl' - then he explained I should cup my hands for the water, the bowl was meant for horses. LOLOL

Thanks guys.

Since Dodgy Dennis is fixing up the place, I decided that he is taking a break from re-painting the water pump and trying to straighten out the kinks in the bowl grid. I made the paint can (probably black market WD stuff knowing Dennis) and the paint brush from styrene tube and sheet.

The petrol pump has only five component parts. The main upright, the two doors, the logo round bit at the top and the innards.

The illustration on the box seems to indicates it comes with decals. but it doesn't. The shell decals and the line markings on the glass cylinders are from the parts box and the 'dial' is hand painted.

So here it is freshly repainted by Denis:

Are you sure Denis is doing the painting? His wife in the loo explains the half painted pump.

Could be Mike.... could be.

Today I made a start on the static grass. looks a bit stark at the mo but there will be other layers of longer grass and different shades of green to come. Needs to dry completely first:

Thanks guys.

The kit doors are 'ok' but I decided to make my own from Basswood for better realism. At least I think they look better.
