Lovely work Al, when you get colour on the timber it will burst into life.

Al: Of the four shades you have there I have to go along with the one you picked. The dark ones are too dark and the light one is too light. John

Re: Mile End Garage.
Al, I would use the light one on top. Looks more real to me, the one you have pointed looks to bright for weathered wood. Maybe a combo of the two would work also, put one color on and do a wash with the other. Just my 2 cents

Re: Mile End Garage.
Thanks John and John.
Gary, that silvered oak is just the look I'm looking for.
I painted the highlighted timber with three coats of AK Interactive Blue Filter For Panzer Grey, so now I'll try all the timbers in this wall with two coats and see how it comes out.

Agree w/ John.
Old bleached out silver grey. Little darker under the eaves and protected areas.

Re: Mile End Garage.
Happy now with the 'silvered timber' I gave the rest of the timber frame two coats of the AK Interactive Blue Filter For Panzer Grey.
It's an extremely thin wash and some 'wicked' onto the plaster work which gave some rise for concern. Needn't have worried, when it was dry, I dipped a fine brush into clean white spirit and blended it into the plasterwork, which just seems to me to add to the weathering.
Don't worry about the darker 'test' areas of timber, that's where the 'netty' is going and won't be seen.!!!

Thanks John.
If I go ahead with the corrugated roof, it will cover all of the roof, be laid in scale sized sheets and be weathered. Just mulling it over at the mo.

Re: Mile End Garage.
A member on another site, suggested using coloured masking tape, in some of the panels to test out the 'partly fresh painted' look. Great idea, right?
Wrong!!
Despite using low tack tape, some of the plasterwork pulled away.!!!!
Not a disaster however, as I'd planned for some signage anyway. This just pre-determines the position of one of them. They look a bit garish in the photos, but they will be 'distressed' using JohnJ's method.

Re: Mile End Garage.
That tape Faux passe, (how's that for fractured French?) might have been a good chance to portray some more weathered stucco failure.

Re: Mile End Garage.
It's really coming along now Al.
Not sure about the corrugated roof myself, may look better when it's weathered.
Keep up the great work.
