Re: Another parts box build
Nice work Clay. I like the shape of your first attempt more but the size of this one works a lot better. Don't know if I mentioned it before but those wheels look great for this one.

Re: Another parts box build
So do you need thinker styrene to form it from? Like maybe some .020"

Re: Another parts box build
Yeah, Buck, the Windex bottle is only about .015'. I'll try other stuff as I experiment further.
This seems a good method to get formed parts. Won't hold up to resin casting for anything detailed.

Re: Another parts box build
I've been so busy with Speeds Weeks and qualifying for the SCCA Runoffs that I haven't paid much attention to this build. I remember being, and still being, confused as to how the head works. Now I see you were brave enough to build a sucker machine.
Styrene is everywhere from milk bottles, for sale signs, and lots of packaging. Try asking a local sign shop for cut offs.

When I was researching the spark location on the Riley Head Conversion for the Model A engine I found a lot of tech for putting a small block Chevy head on the Model A block.

What is confusing to me, is that it appears to have side intake and over head exhaust valves. As Arnie Johnson would say, "Very interesting, but stupid".

Cut me some slack, Don !wisdonm wrote:What is confusing to me, is that it appears to have side intake and over head exhaust valves. As Arnie Johnson would say, "Very interesting, but stupid".
Ruth Bussey would ask him, " What part of imagineering don't you understand?"
Crappy weather here in Fla. I can't get anything painted without blushing (fogging).
I even broke down and tried future in the air brush. Same result. Soaking in brake fluid as I write this !!!
Started on something new. Stay tuned.

ARTE Johnson, from '60s tv show "Laugh-In," if anyone is old enuf to remember it. I haven't checked back comments but wonder if humidity filled states builders use dehydrators to aid in drying paint.

I hope you get some progress on this one but sometimes a break is what a guy needs.

Re: Another parts box build
Still rain in Florida and painting is 'iffy'.
I'm not stripping and/or sanding this thing again !
It's in primer and getting final stuff attached.
It'll be in the finished section in a couple of days !!
