Another parts box build
A while back, I hinted that I was building this Model A engine using a Chev V-8 head.
With crappy weather postponing my coupe build, I turned back to this engine. Here's a front and rear view'
Today I started the scrounge thru the stash, and I think I can come up with enough stuff to build a rod. Found a neat set of wheels and tires I had set back.

Have engine mounts in that frame already........nap time!

Re: Another parts box build
You sure have a healthy parts box and know how to work from it. Good start!

Don't have any kind of performance rear end in the salvage, so this weenie job will have to do. Filled in the slot (it'll show).
Lenco gonna show too. Ain't about to hide that baby under a tunnel !!!

I would love to rive this one. I bet the 4 popper and the Lennco are fun to drive. Those trannys don't have a neutral so it clutch in standing still and out to move. No sitting and idling while you tune the carb either.

Looking cool Clay Don't know how that tranny would be on the street cause like Buck said " NO NEUTRAL " and you can't down shift them either but are an awesome drag tranny.

Looking good Clay. What do you plan on using to cover the tranny from the inside?

With that kind of trans, feet will be busy. Wonder what the Florida state inspectors of scale models will make of it. Let us know if they pass you!

Re: Another parts box build
I suppose I ought to show something!
Cobbled some rear shocks out of rod & tubing.
I have been working on a nose piece, but will wait until I am sure it'll work out before I show it.

Re: Another parts box build
Here goes the ball game. !! Either this will motivate me to get out a decent job, or have posted a colossal failure for all to see.
I had envisioned a track nose on this baby. None in the salvage pile. So, I figured I would carve a mold, not knowing if I wanted to make a papermache off of it or what. I discounted tooling back up for resin casts...($$), and as I formed it, thought maybe I could just carve it out of a piece of cypress.
Looked pretty close to the model while still on the block and fit a radiator I dug out. So I cut a relief on the back side.
After finishing forming to a close rough, I removed it from the stock piece and gave it a fit. Holy crap, Way to big (tall).
Started to hogging it out and kept having to go deeper and deeper. It was at this point I started having doubts.
Finally figured I would have to reduce it some from the exterior also. I removed 1/16" from the bottom and about 3/16" off the top, and took the radiator relief off the back.. After getting the contour back somewhat, I'm close. Still may have to doctor it up a tad more.

Still looks a tad tall. Great idea carving it. Now you need to make one of those vacuum form machines like wisdonm did.

Re: Another parts box build
Making another nose piece. Stacking some mat board pieces and will Bondo to final shape. Gonna build and give Don's amazing parts sucker machine a try. If I can get a couple of decent copies of this, I will rework it, and make a taller grill opening. This seems a bit too small, but still useable.
