Land Rover ambulance..
..Converted into an expedition vehicle. It is based on the Tamiya 1:35 British army ambulance.
So it was primed and sprayed white to help reflect the desert heat off it and cleared.
The wheels were sprayed a navy blue as a contrast to the shell.
As it would have to be drive from England thru France and Spain and over the water to Morocco and eventually into the Sahara it needed a few extras...
An auxiliary gas tank to add range to the standard pair of tanks under the cab,5 jerry cans for water, lots of baggage for personal effects, tools, spares and what not's for desert travel,a pair of sand ladders and extra matting for the same..
I added a wooden shelf above the cab for extra storage.
The chassis is nothing special!
Then I added some steelwork to the roof for a pop up type tent, the idea is that the U shaped ends spring up and the uprights are fitted then the canvas is thrown over and secured in place.
After a hard days travelling across all types of desert terrain you will be famished for a brew up and a decent meal. That is where you thank the lords for not only including a giant bag of spuds and assorted vegs but aso a supply of firewood..

Cool!!!! It does look a bit like an armo(u)red car for transferring money. You did an especially good job on the interior extra things. The tent idea is smart, as long as the blokes don't forget where they are sleeping. Stepping out for a midnight pee could be dangerous!
An excellent job and shows models need not have detailed engines to be really interesting. It's great mate!

Very nice Nigel, the interior extras look great and I like the inclusion of the base and fire too.
It does look like it could do with a little wear and tear though...
Neat idea with the tent too
