How to simulate 'old leather'
I was very kindly given permission to post this tutorial by Lutz-Bikes over at e-scale.com.
Hi,
here my method to do old leather seats .
At first I have to eat some candy ,to get the waxed paper.
That brown wax paper can be found on those really cheap peanut butter candies that pull out fillings.
After that I make a small ball of it to get the cracks in the paper ,
the more cracks the older the leather.
After that, i cut it a bit larger than the right size that it fits to the part .
Than i put thinned White Glue on the part ,and put the paper on it.
With a toothpick I rework carefully the Lines on the parts.
The overlapping part of the paper will put to the backside.
The Result:
and the finished Model
Hope thats helpful for someone
Regards Lutz

What a great idea...and it's EASY!!!! I'd go for fewer wrinkles, but very cool! There is a limitation on colors, since coloring the waxed paper with anything is not easy. One could maybe use some of that craft aerosol spray glue, let it dry and maybe then paint. But then much of the variation in color from the wrinkles wouldn't be there.
I've seen examples of leather using very thin ladies leather gloves as material, but your way is superior. Thanx for a new "wrinkle" in seat covers!
